I went on the internet, and I found this....

This is a Yamaha R15 v2.0
150cc 4 stroke FI single. sold in india only (as far as i know). i happen to think it's really really good looking.

Would anyone here consider buying this? I know I would.

I'd buy it just to look at it, but not sure how much pleasure there'd be in riding it. Really hot looking though...love that color.

I wish I could understand why car & motorcycle manufacturers reserve good products for countries other than the U.S. I wouldn't want one, but I guarantee there are new riders, small riders & women who would LOVE this bike in place of some boring old scooter. I was all set to buy the new Ford Fiesta until I learned that the cool European 3-door wasn't going to be offered here. And Europe gets the F.I. Ninja 250! BAH! When did we become the bastard step children?

150cc as a pit bike and maybe run errands around town but not to commute on.

It's bad enough peeps are complaining about lack of power on our 250cc...a 150cc??? C'mon, Yamaha...you could do better.

That bike is in India only where the 250 there is looked at similar to how the 1000 is here. You won't see that bike come here in 150cc for exactly why you mentioned and I guarantee Yamaha has no intentions to even think about it. Now if they were to add a 2nd cylinder and make it a 300cc twin looking like that, then it could work.

I'd rather it be a 400cc Inline-4 screamer.

yep they did

http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showt...ght=yamaha+250

making that bike a 300cc twin would be lethal. it would kill the 250's, and if they did a body similar to that one on the 150, it would be sexy and sell big. It would just be a cheater 250, like the Daytona 675 and ZX6R 636 are both cheater 600's

It looks like the offspring of a Ninjette and an R6, the two sexiest bikes ever. I like it.

The only thing I don't like about the Suzuki is the fact that it's naked. Throw a sportsbike bodywork and I'll buy it in a heartbeat (provided it's just as fast as our Ninja ).

Yeah I know that! It doesn't make me happy either. But there's still a good chance that it will come here eventually when they see how it does across the pond

Hehe, it happens, we all make mistakes, but it's all good.

If you look around on the net you can find the big 4 making small bikes in various places around the world that the US never has/does/will see.

I wish KTM would quit shooting themselves in the foot with 150, 250 and 350 street bikes in R&D or already being readied for production. (no interest in the 150 already on the table)

best looking 4 stroke 150cc I've ever see but I think it should at least be a 250. Or make it a 2 stroke, idk?

Only problem is if they did make it a 2-stroke they wouldn't be able to sell it here. Or did you forget they are no allowed here in the US?

No, it's not a moot point. Because if they made it a 2-stroke then it still wouldn't come to the US. Sheesh, try thinking a little there guys.

Now if they made it a 300 like I suggested, then it could come here and people would be all over it.... like I might.

It's a moot point because it's not coming to the U.S. either way. I'm just saying if it was a 2-stroke, in the U.S, for about 2k, I would totally buy it.

Ah, I remember seeing a picture of this bike earlier in the year on the internet. Some people were secretly hoping it would be the new Yamaha R25 (250cc) but in the end, it was just the v2.0 upgrade to the previous R15.

I think it looks nice and certainly better than the Honda CBR125R that we get here in Canada, however, it's not my favourite looking 125cc from Yamaha. Out of the current models that I know of, I really like the YZF-R125 available in the UK.

fyi they sell plenty of 2 strokes in the US still even though they are trying to get rid of them. they don't pass DMV so you can't register them unless you get fancy and get a grandfathered chassis/title and "convert" it into the new 2-stroke... though "technically" doing that is not legal, however the dmv doesn't actually inspect the bikes. though if you get pulled over by a cop who knows his stuff he will impound your bike as the paperwork is invalid since the title numbers wont match the frame numbers... but that can be fixed

These are some sexy looking small displacement bikes. If Yamaha offered them in the US back when I was looking at a beginner bike, I probably wouldn't have ended up being a Ninja 250R owner.

I feel as though it is part of the American way to get far more than you need. There is no reason to try to launch a Yamaha 125/250 in the US when they can just as easily sell an R6 or an R1.

As was mentioned, India (and places like Indonesia) sees the 250 like a 600. Or at least the insurance (or tax, I don't remember which) rates are ridiculously high for anything bigger than 250 (if I recall correctly). A 125 is more like a glorified scooter -- Though I would ride that YZF-R125 without much problem.
