Clip-ons and Rear sets

So my next things on my to do list are rear sets and clip-ons. For rear sets I'm basically sold on the adjustable ones from Bohemian Racing. They seem really nice for the money, come in colours, and are adjustable. All things the woodcrafts and a lot of others don't offer. Any reason I shouldn't get the Bohemian Racing rear sets?

On the terms of clip ons, I'm not really sure of which ones I want. So I'm all open for suggestions on clip ons and why you'd suggest those.

Lastly, I spotted some grips I want locally and was going to pick them up later today or tomorrow. Can I put those grips on my stock bars and then transfer them over to my clip ons without issue? Or do they get destroyed when uninstalling / taking them off? And are they universal/standard sized or do I need to make sure they're a specific size? Same question with bar ends. And can I even put bar ends on clip ons?

No wrong in getting the BR rear sets and the grips are transferable.

I've got the Moth rearsets from Bohemian and love 'em. I was short a part when they arrived, but they got me fixed up pretty quick once I convinced them I was sure it was not included, not just misplaced.

Woodcraft was one of the earlier options for clipons and still, imo one of the best. They need a little work to go on, but they're comfy and get the job done well.

So I think I'm going to get the Driven clip-ons. Which size would I need to get and are they easy enough for me to do myself without messing up my bike? I'm worried about having to take off the triple tree. Also, could I do it myself if I don't have a front stand?

You don't need a front stand but I recommend that you jack up the bike so the tires are off the ground or at least there isn't any weight on the forks when you remove the top triple. Not really anything you can mess up unless your bike falls over.

The problem with Woodcraft clip-ons (currently on my bike) is because the risers go below the triple tree you can't angle them further closer to you. I forget what the maximum angle is but when I first got them they were very uncomfortable and took time to get used to use...especially if you have short arms like a TRex. =P

There shouldn't be any reason that you can't put them above the triple. You'll just need to raise your forks a bit. I guess you may also run into issues of them hitting the fairings.

Raise the forks "a bit"? Hitting the fairings?

Do you have WC clip-ons? If so, how would you achieve this?

The whole purpose of having the aftermarket adjustable clip-ons is so they'd sit lower than stock and provide a more aggressive angle. Can you achieve this by what you're suggesting?

I do have WC clip-ons. They're currently underneath my top triple. Because of the rise built into the WC clip-ons for the 250 I do agree that putting them above the triple wouldn't really achieve the results that most are looking for with clip-ons.

Because of the rise on the WC clip-ons I think if mounted above the triple they may interfere with the front fairing at full lock.

That's probably the least of your worries.

By the looks of it, the egros of the WC clip ons wouldn't work well mounted above the triple. There are clip ons out there designed to be mounted above though. NUI and KTC both make clip ons that go above for around $110-$150

So I'm pretty set on the Drivens, but I'm not sure if I want the regular ones that have the right fork size, or the ones specifically for the 250 (Linkage). Those risers look awful high...

Not so sure if that pic is of the 250 specific though. If you look at the other pic in that image the riser isn't that high. If I remember correctly they are about the same height as my WC clipons.

They don't seem as adjustable as some of the others out there though? I could be wrong though.

So, Woodcrafts vs Drivens? In terms of both overall quality, fit, and installation.

My only concern about the Driven is how well the "lock" will keep the bars from pivoting since they're adjustable.

i have both the bohemian rearsets (excellent IMO) and woodcraft clipons (also excellent IMO) and the combo is great. i love my riding position now, and guys i ride w who have the stock set up love the feel of my set up as well... yea theyr jealous LOL

i ran a group buy a few months back on the bohemians and dennis is a great guy w excellent customer service, the product is priced great and also top notch. i have had no issues w my rearsets and love the fact that i was able to get green.

i also went w the woodcrafts because i didnt wanna remove the triple tree and i wanted clipons that mounted below the triple. the woodcrafts were fairly easy to install and i gt used to the feel pretty quick.

in all i obviously dont have the drivens, but i would recommend highly the bohemian and woodcraft combo

Jae, how tall are you and do you happen to have a picture of you or someone else on the bike in riding position with the woodcrafts and the rearsets?

Due to the ease of installation of the WCs compared to the drivens, where I'd have to take off the top triple tree, I may get the woodcrafts. They give pretty much the same position, right?

the clamps mount below the triple and the risers attach to the clamps to bring the bars up high enuff to clear the fairings. i think nemesis is referring to the limited amount of forward or backward angle you can move the clamps since the riser comes up around the triple and restricts the lateral adjustability of the bars. if you wanted to mount them above the triple you wouldnt really need the special ninja 250 clip ons since the risers wouldnt need to be that tall.

this is a pic i found online. looks like the owner lowered his front forks and still mounted the WCs under the triple. you can see how they mount below at the clamp and how the riser raises them up above the triple to clear the fairing

Here is a simple pic of my bike with the WC clipons installed. Not the greatest pic but the triple tree height has not been altered.

When I get around to rearsets I am looking at bohemian as well.
