Bear Mtn II Sat 6/23

We have similar roads west of hudson and I think saturday's crew would like them. . These are not as fast as 301 but we have a snake thru a residential area with an uphill switchback and a WOT road with little enforcement. Close by is 218, a Ducati Dealer for drooling purposes. There are sections with gravel for urban to play on and a launching pad for Fizz to catch air. The rest of us can ride at our own pace.

I think I'm OK for Sunday.
Study the road on google map. Unles you get off first at the bottom they will eat you but where it branches off to Perkins Drive is where you own the road. Big prob with bear mtn is, except after the very first sweeper....no place to pass safely.

Hey...I'm in the Viagara generation...we know how to get stuff done. Didnt you see that commercial where the guy's '67 camaro is overheating and he stops and pisses in the radiator and then drives back to the nursing home ? Guaranteed I COULDA GOT THAT BIKE BACK TO qUEENS AND GUARANTEED THAT ANY OF YOU GUYS COULD'VE DONE IT TOO. Thinking out of the box is easy when you're senile. And then....when we reached TSP...who was it you or Fizzz....wanting to wire the thing together with weeds.....that was soo funny. Next trip...I'll show you how to roll bananna skins into joints. Called electrikal banannas. Circa '66 or '67.

I took a nice run down 301 after I left you guys. I actually went in the wrong direction but didn't mind much since the road as so nice. Long sweepers, a couple stretches to open it up, some nice tight corners, all with the lake/reservoir as a backdrop.

Great to meet you all and looking forward to riding with you again. I can't make it this Sunday but I'll stay tuned for the next one. Stay safe.

I have no life and spend all my time on google earth...but...I;'ve been on some of these roads. Instead of bear Mountain...anybody want to go longer?
To keep it simple...I began fron intersect 80 and 23 in NJ
START AT
ROUTE 80 AND 23
23 NW.........................................very pleasant road
LIBERTYVILLE RD WEST..................remember it as fast
BECOMES DECKERTOWN PIKE....................racetrack
NORTH ON SAVANNAH RD ( MAY BE CR406)..........2 lane blacktop
WEST ON RIDGE RD
ENDS AT CR 406
( CAN DETOUR BACK TO 23 TO PLAY ON MOUNTAIN AND COME BACK TO CR406.............ascent and descent is fast, well paved, safe
OR
TAKE 406 SOUTH
OR TAKE UNNAMED ROAD SOUTH
RECONNECTS TO CR4406
TO
DECKERTOWN PIKE WEST........................racetrack
TO FIRST RIGHT SWEEPER U TURN
GRAND ARMY RD SOUTH
BEAR LEFT TO BECOME GINGER RD
BEAR LEFT AT FORK CONTINUE GINGER RD
ENDS AT CR519
CR519 EAST
BECOMES CR628 East / South
Bear left continue 628
Straight, becomes
East on Clark Rd
To 23 south
To 80

This is maybe an 8 hour ride.

You should check out the NJ Riders thread. I always try to post in advance the days I'm going to the track so others can join.

I always want to get more people to addicted to the track. Already have one victim for my next track day on July 21st

Did the ride I laid out at the top of this post.
NW Jersey is beautiful with roads that are consistently clean, in good reapir and the ones i was on are made for bikes. Got on a few park paths that were no wider than the bike...sideways. HighPoint park is perfecdtly suited to beginners with tiny roads that are so clean and nice that you dont even wanna run them fast. OK....so who's up for tomorrow ?

I think we need a tech day like right now!

I hear some scratching coming from my front wheel and think it might be something with the rotor or brakes. I won't be able to ride until this is ironed out.

I NEED HELP!

I removed my front brakes and moved the bike without it and it didn't make any sounds or scratching or anything. So hopefully by replacing them, the bike SHOULD be alright again! I'm going to buy 3 more sets to replace the back brakes and have some extra for days like this (i use to do the same with my car).

If what i was feeling was the brake wear indicator, that totally sucks but actually works!

When you do the brake lines let me know. Want to start a NY "Tech Day" thread? Come up with a date that works best for you *COUGH(preferable july 7-8)COUGH*. We can do the lines for you, me and whoever wants them as well as anything anyone else needs. Me and urbaninja want to install some USB power on our bikes too.

I think that will be totally awesome! We can do that, then a little night test (read: run) around the city or your area, or something else! Will be some more awesome video at night though! just saying.

As for the video, you sure can. But you will get UNEDITED video which totally sucks a**! I'll try uploading to youtube and I'll send the links around.

I got em, urbaninja came through! Thanks again. I do need to buy some more though, will be heading to dealer and see if he can get em for me as these only lasted around 4,500 miles. Something must have been bad on them. I'll have him do the rear cuz it looks like I'll have a hard time doing these (don;t have the right tools). Or I just might buy the right tools and do it myself.
