250 / 300 Curious
Hi all. 52 years old, ridden all my life other than a 15 year hiatus when the kids were young. Have mostly had big bikes - mostly sport other than trying a cruiser for a couple of years. Didn't take - maybe when I get older. Currently have a C14. Will be adding a second lighter one up bike. Looking forward to learning a lot here.

The Ninjette is a great real-world bike, because you get to really use most of its potential all the time. The new 400 is cut from the same cloth and ought to be a great machine, too.
The secret to having fun on the Ninjette is to keep it wound up. Ride it hard and it will reward you... the party starts at about 9,000 rpm, and the bike is happy running like that all day long, every day.

To the OP, the baby Ninja is a fun bike. I used it for track and currently my commuter bike as well. I have the last 250 and it's been reliable since inception. I have over 20k on it and cruise around 80-90mph all day no problem. It's great on gas and cheap to maintain.
I rode a 300 a few times, if money is no issue then I would go for a 300 it's just a better overall bike. I bought my 250 when I was in college and have no desire to let it go. I'll just have someone install a new motor after the original one goes out, or do a performance build who knows. If I get another bike, it's gonna be the new Ninja 400!

Welcome, I have a couple of years on you & have been riding my whole life.
I have a ZZR250 which uses the original 250 motor it’s great if a little buzzy. The newer 250 is better still & the 300 is a better option as the extra 50cc does make a big difference in the feel of the motor. If you were looking for something, less sporty but just as capable, I’ve had he new Versys X300 for a couple of months & 1000miles & it is a hoot. It uses the same 300 motor in a cross between an adventure & trail bike chassis. Even with the full adventure kit fitted it will sit at 80-90mph on the motorway & I’ve seen 100 indicated once. It’s the first bike I’ve ever ridden where I have not complained that the suspension is too soft ! I’m 6’1” and 100kg. It handles beautifully, give one a try. Have fun, be safe & welcome back to biking |

Old but not Too Slow
Hi, I'm 71-riding about 60. Got a 250 a couple yrs back and like it so much I traded my '02 Futura for a '15 300. Less is More! I raced an RD in the 70s and these bikes are so much like that if a bit slower.
