Help. Shaving off key hole??
Hey everyone. Im new here and im building a 08 250 to a cafe and im wondering if i can grind down the key hole on the triple tree without risking it failing? Any help is appreciated

You mean the hole where the ignition switch was? I'm sure if you made it level with the top triple clamp you wouldn't be risking much. Or do you plan to remove half the clamp and make the whole switch mount disappear?

Ues i mean the ignition hole. I want to grind it flat from the top and cut where the yellow marks are

I would not expect that would cause a structural problem, and I'd do it to mine without worry, but I have not done a finite element analysis or anything, so cut at your own risk.

Over the years, I have seen a few broken. Seeing how those riders still ride their bikes successfully on the track, I would bet there isn't much harm in cutting it down like you plan.

It looks good, but I'd shorten the vertical seat mount... it seems to be rubbing on the rear tire.

not a problem, i race with a guy that has chopped out a piece for a on/off switch. he is #1 in the class.

Im moving it to the rear somewhere. . I plan on making a full wiring harness to relocate almost everything so yea long nights of tracing wires and diagrams ahead of me.

Pelican seen ur build. Looks sick man. And i dont plan to delete anything yet. But i did order rolls of heat shrink and wiring wrap to do the harness. Ill keep this updated as i go.
