In the dark
Literally. I turn the ninja on today, no headlights. All other lights are fine. Check fuse, it's fine. Throw the voltmeter to the fuse, nothing. no power to it at all. What gives? I searched here and google, neither of which offered relevant info...

might add that the bike, otherwise, runs splendidly. the key is brand new too. cant imagine that playing a factor though

Does the high beam work? If so I believe you can switch the high and low beam lights so at least you have a working headlight. Mine mysteriously went out as well. Luckily I was actually having a valve adjustment done and my mechanic replaced it for free =]
They could both be blown, take them out and check them.

Did you check the plug at the back of the headlight?

no, no headlights at all. and i just did some detective work. I taught my lady to drive Monday. I took a video. Looking at the vid, there were no lights there either. Now, on Monday, while she was putting around the yard (light working in this vid) the bike died. no power and dead battery. Light flickered before it lost power. I found the battery connection loose. Tightened and battery-tendered until it was charged. At that point, no light (says the next set of vids). So, post hoc ergo propter hoc. Any ideas?

went out and jumped the relay (Gray to Blue/Yellow) with bike running. lights came right on. I can't quite figure why my voltmeter didn't pick up voltage at the fuses, but I know power was rolling through. All other fused items work, but my meter isn't reading anything from the fuse block. Dead fuse should keep voltage from one of the two powers at the relay, right? I have both hots showing power. I dunno. Too cold to enjoy a ride now anyway.

With just key on you shouldn't have power past the relay. There is something that triggers once the bike is started that powers up the light, check that.

If I find a solution I'll let you know. My headlights die all the time when I hit a bump or something. It's a problem I've had ever since I bought the bike. Only way I've found to turn them back on is to key off/on which is kind of sketch on the freeway at night but hey, gotten pretty good at it by now. Granted, my bike came with purple Luminez HID bulbs in it which may be the problem.

http://www.mickeywebpages.com/users/...e_Dia_v1.1.gif The coil side of the relay gets its power from the oil pressure switch. Turn the bike on and test for power on the coil circuit, if you have power replace the relay. Don't forget to test the ground too
Unless you happen to have an easy source of 12V that you can connect the relay to, connect the coil and listen for a click then test continuity on the switch side.

Hey,
My low beam has been of for a few weeks now, and tonight I noticed (on my way home from a friends in the dark) that the high isn't working now. I am wondering how to solve this, as my little ninja is my only mode of transportation right now haha.. My friend has a 2011 that does the same damn thing.. guess kawi cheaped out on something?

Could be as simple as a new bulb, they do burn out over time.

Pretty short time for a bulb, I assume.

Have the bulbs been replaced before? I've heard that touching them with your fingers dramatically shortens their life. (touching the glass part of the bulb) not sure if it's true or not, but if they have been replaced before and really are dying, then it might explain why they could be going out so quickly
