Wasn't me!

Was he mean? I don't think he meant to have a close call with them. He may have been speeding and I can't be sure but it looked like he was under-taking (different rules in different places).

He had more than 3 seconds since they entered his visual field, .......... he almost had time for a nice "Good morning, folks".

More and more people are doing anything but riding/driving and paying attention.

No, Akima, you are fine.

He could have started seeing them at 0:33; he was probably focused on the car he was overpassing.

What if the pedestrians would have been a left-turner motorcycle, or a 4x4 piece of wood across the street, or a nice spill of Diesel fuel?

Yes, it seemed like he had plenty of time, if he were paying attention.
Also, the truck slowing down should have triggered the rider to at least slow a little and be prepared.

just before the incident occurred theres one.

by 30-40 feet... do you mean 5-600 feet each way? plus crossing two streets?

Even if he was focused on the truck, the sudden nose drive and brake lights should have keyed the rider that something was going on.

Yep, that was another good clue.

But again, clues are only good for riders that are attentive to their surroundings.

I bet our rider is a regular car driver who rides eventually.
