Question Maybe the answer is obvious but...

Despite being mechanically inclined, I have never done much in the way of tuning an engine. I can take it apart and put it back together, but adjustments are beyond my current knowledge.

So here is my question:

I put my new slip-on on this weekend AND installed a K&N filter AND removed the snorkel. I have to ride the bike 16 miles to the dealer to have it rejetted and Dyno-ed. The bike is going to be running lean, obviously. Will running it with the choke slightly on compensate for this? It seems that the purpose of the choke is to reduce air intake and increase fuel intake. Is this a practical solution for my short ride?

On the ninjette the choke simply increases fuel supply. I wouldn't be overly concerned on a short ride like that getting too lean, but running with the choke on would likely help even things out between home & the shop.

In short: yes, it should.

It may be a little lean but not enough to do damage with a slipon.

^^^ Yes but he has also installed a K & N filter which will lean it out even more.
