new red plastic part

just finished to change the oil at home when a friend from the kawasaki dealer came by with a new part that he showed me earlier in the day, which i had spontaneously decided to buy, lol



it goes down below the radiator, and i found that looks quite good (thus i bought it).




the build quality seems to be really good, its made out of plastic with an injected mold (NOT FG), and fits really really well.



you need to take the lower end of the bike faring plastic clip things off, and also remove the 2 lower bolts from the radiator.



the piece slides in without much trouble. i removed the front wheel fender cos at first i couldn't figure out how to get it in at first, and i didn't want to bump and scratch it up due to the tight space. but its not actually necessary.



the little plastic part that holds the bottom front end isnt long enough to hold all three layers of plastic together, so i found an old SS bolt that was a good size and used that





quite pleased with the end result, it will stop flinging dirt at the exhaust pipes and engine block.

the only drawback will be that each time i need to remove the bikes farings, ill have to take this off as well, which adds to the hassle somewhat... but ill survive im sure

aftermarket i believe, the spare parts dood at the kawi dealer had it, they sell a mix of oem, and aftermarket parts at the dealer. not that much choice, but sometimes some interesting parts do appear.

this part cost half of what the FG bracket that i got for you.

they have it in red, white, black, green and blue. the red on this one matches my bikes color very well.

Nice! I'd like to find something like that but a bit less angular and more like the lines already designed in the bike. Of course, we don't have any style of those available in The States.

That radiator cover looks like it blocks a bit more airflow than I'd be comfortable blocking in warm weather. I'd rather install hex mesh than a perforated sheet (a bit closer to wire mesh but at least with a little more protective ability).

well, lets start a GB, like i said before, the colors that are available are:

Red, Blue, White, Black and Green.
not sure which blue it is... could find out if someone wants blue.

i would need someone on the American side to handle the domestic shipping on your end, since it will cost you less to ship them all in one package from Bali to the States, and then send the individual parts over there to each of the buyers.

i suggested John, since ive shipped a part to him already, which arrived, and i guess its someone i can say i trust

shipping cost can be split between the buyers, i can not give a cost for that in advance, since i dont know how many i will need to send. the package i sent to John in Huston cost like $ 45 or 50 by registered post (air-mail, 7~10 days). so if the package is bigger it will cost more, but then it will be split by all of you guys, so it should cost less.

the actual plastic part costs about $35 (depends how many ppl will get it i might be able to get a better price from the supplier).

im just not sure about the red, for the 08~09 compared to the 2010+ and the blue, there might be 2 blues (candy blue, and another maybe)? im not so sure...

I do want one but I want it without all the slots so I can install my own mesh. Actually, just the top piece across would work for me. I need to save money anyway, so I can't really afford it. If they have some damaged ones for cheap, I may still be interested.

Also, a suggestion: Many of our members are concentrated in southern California (Los Angeles, San Diego, surrounding areas) due to the year-round riding season and popularity of bikes in this area. If a bunch of them hop on board, it may make sense to ship there where many could pick it up locally without additional domestic shipping.

I do want to get a small triangle of CP blue plastic to put over my brake light to make the Sportisi undertail match the Hotbodies one (I think it fits the style of the bike perfectly).

so far it seems like we have 7 people that have basically confirmed at this point. it will be up to the collective voice to decide when and where it gets shipped.

my homework now is to find out how long it will take me to order 7~10 of these. i will have to buy all of these in advance and then have them packed and brought to the post office to find out the shipping cost before i will ask for money from you guys.

so please make sure that if you confirm, that you will buy this. otherwise ill be left here with extra pieces, lol... im in the furniture business, this GB for the bike is just to offer you guys something that might not be available over there. im giving this basically for cost price, and just adding a couple bucks to cover exchange rates. so don't leave me hanging please

i just checked, we only have the standard red (the 1st red that came out, i guess, the 2008 model).

we did not get a different red selection to choose from here in Bali, nor the rest of Indo. i believe.


for the 2x white, 2x black, and kawi green, i can get within 2 or 3 days i think. so for DR1300R i'll get white, since that's an easy color to paint over. for blade, im still waiting on his choice of color

Jumbo Junior (41 x 35 x 25 cm) max 10Kg = $186

Jumbo Box (48 x 52 x 32 cm) max 25Kg = $287

im not sure how many i can fit in either of these, but at least we have a price already.

so currently, if i can fit all 7 in the junior box for $186, divided by 7, that's like $27 each, which isn't too bad.

shipping by airmail / the post, will cost less im sure. but i wouldnt know the price till after i pack them and bring it to the post office.

there are too many items for me to list. and i dont know the prices to them all off by heart. if you have something that you have in mind, let me know and i can check whats available here and the price.

please note that besides sending pictures of the product, i cant really take responsibility for it in the long run. i mean this plastic part is straight forward, nothing can go wrong (besides the package going MIA, lol).

but if i were to, lets say send something else, thats a little more mechanical (such as rearsets?) and they dont work as you expected, i cant really do anything from my end.

im happy to offer this plastic part because its made by an injected mould, so i know that it should fit your bikes, since it fits mine perfectly. and im not worried that they might not work on your bikes over there.

however i cant guarantee/vouch for other parts that i haven't tried out myself yet.

Thanks for doing this. I recommend you collect money first in case people back out and you're stuck with extra pieces. I've seen it happened with GB before. People tend to be more committed when it's paid lol.
Also you can talk to matt to see which shipping method he used. He ships stuffs for sportisi all the time.

i wouldn't be able to fit that in the same box as these front faring covers (unless i got a way bigger box), and on top of it, Matt is the man you want to deal with for the Sportisi parts. i was thinking more along the lines of "small things that are not sportisi products which might fit in the package without making it cost more to ship" since that should be something already covered by Matt ( ztrack157 ).

regarding payment method, yes, Paypal works, since that seems to be the easiest and cheapest method to transfer. international bank transfers always eat up 5~15 buks per transaction, and that's a bit of a waste of money.

the issue with requesting money in advance is that i don't know how much it will cost to ship until i have all the parts, packed and then brought over to the post, or see in which DHL box it might fit.

i could ask everyone to pay the $35 up front for the part itself, and then the rest for the shipping later when i get a price, but that would end up being a whole heap of transactions, and i would like to keep it as simple as possible. i think i get charged for every paypal to Credit card transaction that i do. meaning that more money gets smoked, lol

i helped John (randomwalk101) get a part from bali last month, and he sent me the total $ (for the part and shipping) once had it packed and weighed by the post office. iddealy i would like to do the same thing, but as he pointed out, i have the risk that someone might pull out after ive bought the part and am about to ship it

if you ask me how much it costs to send a container to LA, i could get you a price in 5 minutes, but for these parts i don't know what the total size / weight will be once we decide to ship them all.

personally i would like to use DHL, since i have a company account with them and i know that we can track it, and it wont get lost. now that there are maybe eight ppl in on this, the shipping cost should not be that expensive anymore once divided by so many.

also we have not elected a person in CA that will take on the responsibility of receiving the package and redistributing them.

someone needs to prepare some straws to pull on, who gets the short one gets to receive the package, hehehe

if the USD wasnt so weak, this item wouldnt cost as much. last year 1USD = 12.000 Rp, currently its down to like 8.700 Rp to the dollar. meaning the $ de-valuated almost 30% to the Rp's... cant do much about that though, we can blame the global economy for that, lol
