Tail light & Cluster bulbs fuse (TAIL fuse, 10) still blowing

Just removed the gas tank on my 05 250 and found a cluster of wires that had exposed wire (used a test lamp and it lit up) so I wrappped that up in electrical tape, resinstalled everything. So the fuse only blows when it's high RPM's (I was choking the bike when it blew after gas tank removal). It never blows as soon as I start the bike, any idea what it is? Any help please

Sorry if this is in wrong forum.. is there a way I can just use a different wiring set/aftermarket taillight? I've probably taken the gas tank off 10 ten times today and searched the wires and found nothing I didn't patch up already.

No worries, @Alex will fix that.

As far as the short goes, you need to find it, won't make a difference what kind of taillight you have if the short is still happening.

I've attached the wiring diagram, take a look at it and start chasing that gremlin. Remember to check everything carefully, don't assuming that, something is OK, til you personal verify it.

Also take a look at the link below, might help you out

You could always buy a good used one of eBay. The last one that I purchased was around $12 shipped. That is much easier to examine, and not too bad to fish through the MC. That way, you know you have a good harness without chasing it forever. Just a thought.
