A quirk of the post timing. The OP's first post that was originally here, is now the first post in the thread that moved to "items wanted". Sadly, there's no way (that I'm aware of, anyway), to reshuffle the post times in a way that would order them as expected in this new merged thread.

So its the states fault for not checking? Sounds like you guys need to sell this bike to pay of medical bills. And don't get another one tell you guys are able to make smarter decisions.

However, going forward, everyone should take this as a lesson. When you go buy a used bike from a private seller, speak with the seller ahead of time to get the VIN number.

With that VIN number, call your insurance company and get a quote. That quote will stay in their system for a few weeks.

When you show up to buy the bike, call the insurance company before you ride home and activate the policy. This way the bike is insured. The insurance company won't care if the bike is registered or not.

Regarding fraud alert: I didn't want to say it. But being born and raised in NYC and having lived in SE Asia for quite some time, I am extremely cynical. Once I saw the gofundme page and saw the picture, I immediately noticed that her right foot is in a cast. However, you stated that she got "left hooked" by a car. The point of impact should be on her left side.

But that is neither here nor there. I just didn't want to say anything because I didn't want to be the asshat to voice my observation and be called out on it.

But I hope your gf heals up quickly. Also, being 18 years old, you can still be a classified as a dependent on a parent's health insurance if you meet a few criteria. One of which is if she were still in school. Is she in school?

Yea she took the msf and had her permit, no she made a left and the car was going straight and the car hit the exhaust and her ankle
