new 650 Cafe racer

Check this out.
Man I need some money. When I go looking for a street bike . This will be the benchmark. Seriously I am looking for a wrecked Suzuki S40 now.

The conversion kit cost 3200 . An S 40 with 500 miles on E bay is 2500 dollars all day long. figure another 1000 for odds and ends. Paint it flat black that is a given .
So for around 7000 dollars you can have a COOL bike . cheap insurance . I think it is better than a 650 ninja with a little engine . At least if you are going slow you will look good.

Neat looking bike! This is definitely motorcycle-related, so I'll move the thread back to General.

I just like the thumper that is super light weight and simple. If you get a wrecked Suzuki and the kit is 3200 . You could build it up for under 5000. Then it would be cool . I just like too build bikes. Buying them is fun but I have done too much of that

I just traded up from a S40 to a 2007 Ninja 250. The Ninja is superior in every way. The S40 has sorry roadholding, woeful brakes, and anemic engine that runs out of steam far too early, which is ok really as by then the vibration is horrendous. It has a wierd big gap between 2nd and 3rd, so a chain coversion, which it desperately needs as 1st is way too low, would exagerate it. The timing chain wears out early and I had horrid chirping noise from the drive belt ($180 replacement) that I could not cure.

Sounds like a perfect cafe racer
Now if we fill the crank case with caster oil it will smoke and foul plugs . Then because of the caster oil it will seize a piston.
That would be the total cafe racer experience.

My younger sister has an old (70s) Velocette Thruxton--a true Cafe Racer in my book. Pity she lives in Europe since I would be glad to buy it from her if she ever decided to part with it.
