249cc + 500cc = SUZUKI GSX-R750

Well here's my new bike..It's a 2007 Suzuki GSX-R750...I've had it a couple days now, and I love it....This bike handles AWESOME!!! its super light, only 357lbs dry....It is also super fast, but very easily controlled...I just changed the oil with Royal Purple 10w40 and washed and waxed it...The guy threw in a icon leather jacket and some alpinestar carbon fiber knuckle gloves with the deal....I gave him my modded out 09 and cash for this BEAST...But it was worth it, bike had 2900 miles on it when I got it...The only negative about this bike is, on my 09 NINJA i was getting close to 230 miles b4 my tank was reading empty, I'd fill it up, and there would of still been about a gallon in there...When the fuel light on this bike comes on I have a gallon maybe a little more, but its after only 120-140 miles........

I sure did...I told him if there was anything he needed to do to the bike 2 check out this forum, I told him about all the step by step DIY threads, he was pretty impressed....I dont know if hes gonna keep the 250 though...He thinks he'll be able to sell it easier than he could the 750, thats why he took it..Side by side the 250 and 750 look about the same size, the only difference is the 180 rear tire is huge....

gixxers are some of the best looking bikes but most riders (not you, I don't know you lol) are idiots, hence this guy Squid On Suzuki GSX-R Owned - Speeders Fight Back But it is an absolutely gorgeous bike. May I ask how much cash you gave along with the bike?

yea I seen that b4..I woudnt say MOST people who ride gixxers are like that guy...That guy is obviously a moron, and was tryin to be funny for t.v....I love how he wiped out at the end, wut an IDIOT!!!! I gave my 09 and 3k for the bike...Which I say is fair..it retails for 74 sumthin, the guy threw in a leather and 70 dollar gloves, he gave me some track pants to, but I would never wear these pants on the street, they are hideous, the funkiest lookin pants ever, lol, but I would use them if I went to the track...My 09 had some cash in it though, I had the integrated taillight, atech fender elim,hugger,and tank protector, cowl, $50 headlights...I think we both did good on the deal..

congrats - the gixxer stigma has proven itself to be fairly accurate around my area but its hardly the bikes fault - just keep your head on and keep the ninjette mentality and you will definately not fall into that crowd

If you're feeling brave one day, have someone follow behind you with a can of gas and flip your trip meter whenever your low fuel light comes on. Continue to ride until your bike literally runs out of gas. Then you can know for sure how long you have. My Triumph is the same way, fuel light comes on around 155mi, but I actually have about another 43 miles before I run out of gas. No idea why the light comes on so early.

Handy to know how long you have until you really run out of gas. I take long trips all the time and it gives me a little peace of mind.

Reserve is always around .7 to 1 gallon of fuel. Its just a safe measure so incase you are on some random country road and don't see a gas station for miles and miles

how many mpg you get also depends on road conditions so you really cant always go by how many miles left til the bike stalls!

That is a good deal, especially considering recently the 08-09's have been getting less demand. On the other hand you put in at least $4-500 into it, maybe more.

Yea I know, but I bit the bullet...Aftermarket aint worth a dime when it comes time to sell....I took off the AP exhaust at least....

Speaking of how much gas you have left after the light comes on.. just read the spec sheet and find out the exact tank size. As soon as that light comes on, pull into a gas station. The spec size - the gas you put in = reserve amount.

If the specs were accurate, that equation should work fine. But for quite a few types of bikes, the fuel pickup can't pull the last bit of gas out of the tank. For some bikes, it's as much as half a gallon wasted in the tank that can never be used. I know, it makes no sense, but it's still the case. Congrat. Nice bike. I sat on the 600 at the dealer last week and it was much wider than the 250. I think the 04-05 looks better.

you sure about the weight????
250R Curb Weight is 374 lbs
GSX-600 Curb Weight is 432 lbs

so how is a 750 lighter and by that much

I highly doubt it's 357lbs as your claim

Dry weight claims don't mean anything. SportRider and a few other mags weigh all of the bikes they test with full fuel and other fluids, and have much more real-world numbers. The 750 is only 5 or 6 pounds more than their 600, but the 600 is about 40 pounds heavier than our 250.

This bike is light, and you can throw it around like the 250, but its got way more power...

The owners manual is BS. Sportrider weighed an '08 GSX-R750 at 447 pounds, if you subtract the fuel weight, any rational person's idea of dry weight would have it as 420 pounds (which is also in that table)

They weighed an '06 GSX-R750 at 440 pounds, or 413 dry, so the '08 gained 7 pounds from the prior model.

Comparing manufacturer-provided "dry weights" is a completely useless exercise, as they lie, simple as that.

Yep, that was my same problem. My bike has a little computer thingy that tells me average mpg and I did the math with how much gas my tank could hold and it never added up either. That's why I did the "run it till it's dry". It may not be 100% accurate, but it gives me a pretty good idea what I'm working with. Considering I run my bike pretty much the same every tank of gas, and not constantly going into the triple digits, I feel pretty safe with my 40 ish miles "reserve" until my bike dies. Hasn't failed me yet.
