It's been a while...

Like a bit over 2 years I think. As my nick said I started riding a black 2008 EX250J in 2009. It had Willwood clip-ons, rear-sets and a Yoshi TRC slip-on.
After 10 months I sold that and got 2009 Suzuki GSX-R 750 (also black). That had K+N filter, shorty inlet stacks and a full M4 system with a slasher CF slip-on. Also had polished rims (black bikes look good like that I think). I had that for 2 very happy years and then in April this year got my hands on a demo-model 2011 Aprilia RSV4R which is currently stock as a rock and likely to stay that way. I always felt at home here and got plenty of advice from other members, it's a very friendly and great site.
Every time I see a baby Ninja I take a look at it and if I get the chance talk to the owner and tell them how much I loved that first bike.

The aprillia is a fantastic bike... Did you get the factory version?

No Hans. It's another $10k AUD (roughly speaking) over the R version. The R has everything on it I need although I was a little disappointed that it didn't have ABS. Still a great bike to ride and you don't see too many of them around here.

Welcome back. You should get you a cheap 250, and save the miles on the Aprilia.

Awesome... It really is a beauty, looks amazing in white. Congratulations on your new purchase. Do give us a review once you've had some saddle time. We get the Factory version in India for about 45,000 USD. The R costs about 5-6000$ less.

Thanks. Hadn't thought of that but the idea has some merit

I think having the two bikes makes me a better rider on both bikes.

If you find a 250, you'll be glad you you did when gas spikes to $4.

I still love my lil ninjette...

Premium fuel in Oz retails for about $1.50 AUD a litre (we use metric system here). That's about 5.70 or so bucks US a gallon roughly speaking working on $1 AUD = $1 USD. Thankfully I didn't buy the bike with economy in mind; and I reckon I'd end up in the divorce court if I bought another bike. But the idea certainly has some appeal

Nice. Is there A noticeably higher power band from the aprilia to the gsxr?

My Gixxer made 138hp at the rear wheel and it was all top end. It was pretty civilised until about 8,000rpm and then it would accelerate hard up to the rev limit. Power delivery on the Aprilia is different. I'm guessing because it's a V4 instead of and inline 4 the engine is more torquey (the extra 250cc probably doesn't hurt either); simply put the Aprilia is relentless. It feels like someone has their hands on your back and is shoving you along. I liked my Gixxer and would love to have kept it but that wasn't an option. Incrementally everything is better on the Aprilia; suspension, brakes, power, finish etc but I have a soft spot for both of my previous bikes and in a perfect world I would have kept them.
