HELP! Smoke from Engine!

So I got to adjusting my valve clearances, and after i buttoned it back up and test ran it, there is smoke coming from the engine. I do not have the radiator setup, but I only ran it maybe 20 seconds before smoke started. What could be causing it?

Im 99% sure i put the cam chain and sprockets aligned properly. Idk what is wrong/

Did you clean the exterior of the engine or valve cover with any solvent that may have vaporized when the engine increased the temperature?
Kerosene and WD-40 can do that.

Yes, the smoke is coming from the headers so it must be burning oil. BUT my engine is making a strange metal clanging sound, I think it is the cam chain?
Maybe Valves? And i'm getting really visible exhaust from muffler. Its like white smoke?

So it turns out the Metal clanging sound was the cam chain tensioner not being set right. I messed with it and got the clacking to go away, and the white exhaust smoke might just be cause its cold out. I noticed my r6 doing it as well.

I usually get white smoke when the temperature drops at night, and is cold in the morning. Mainly comes from condensation.

What exactly does this mean. You started the bike without the radiator attached?

I did not have antifreeze in the lines at the time.

What was in your lines at that time? Water? Nothing?

I guess I'm just confused why you would even start the engine if the whole thing wasn't put back together again.

It was to make sure the darn thing would even run afterwards.

It was on the rear stand still, didn't want to fully assemble it only to find out i have to tear back into it.

If the lines were dry, that is a sure way to roast your water pump. The friction between the impeller and the wall can melt the impeller.

You may not have done too much damage, but you will have to keep an eye on it.

Smoke most likely came from fluids getting on exhaust.
