Choke closes by itself (1986 ex250e)

Anyone ever have the choke close by itself after adjustment? I can't seem to find any way to fix this.

just to be precise...the bar mounted choke lever closes on its own, correct?

First, do not lubricate the lever/handlebar point, clean the area and leave it dry.
Introducing more free play in the choke cable may solve
Lessening the return spring tension may also solve.

Some food for thought there.

Hey, I see you've got a Ducati Monster...what model/year? Older carbed?

It was lubricated before I saw the error in my ways. It was since thoroughly cleaned and I still have the issue. There was plenty of slack in the line already and I'm hesitant to make more since it won't open all the way otherwise.

@ducatiman I've got a 2016 Monster 821... love it!

wrap some gaffer tape around shaft of lever so it rubs on controls housing.
