Quick question...is my bike waterproof?
I have an appointment to change out my tires tomorrow but if this rain continues, I am not sure if I will be able to make it.
Usually I have no problem getting wet but since my bike is exposed now, I am a bit hesitant. (No fairings/side panels) My main concern is my zip-tied headlight to the forks. The rubber back side and the bulb connector wires are exposed. Any potential risks in this case? I also think that now my battery has a good chance to get wet. btw: when I get my new tires, I shall try and take pics of my new temporary street fighter. |

I wouldn't worry too much about getting stuff wet. Nearly all the electrical bits on the bike are adequately weatherproofed. One concern I would have is whether the zip-ties holding your headlight on will slip down your fork as they get wet and you encounter any bumps or rough spots a you ride.
P.S. I look forward to seeing what you do with your naked ninja.

Try to hose down the chain before you put the bike away, or spray it down with a low-viscosity lubricant. Riding in the rain you can't avoid picking up a nasty fine grit that sticks to everything. Anything you don't get off eventually works it's way into the rollers and shortens the life of the chain. If you ride in the rain at all, you know what a mess it can make of the bike. Now that I have no reason to ride in the wet, I avoid it like the plague.

More like water resistent than waterproof. Check your watch for the difference.
