To drill or not to drill, that is the question
I currently have the carbs of my ninjette to change jetting etc and am wondering about drilling the slides. I have heard both good and bad things about it. Better throttle response but also flat spots. What do you guys think?

^^ actually, that's not really true. I switched back. The ecotrons pulled, revved, and responded (oh good lord, that midrange was sweet) well, but the carbs pull just as well (if not a tad better when tuned right) and are more reliable for worry-free long trips.
anyhow, I vote not to drill, or at least not to drill until you can get smaller bits (#80 or #90 even) because of the issues I told you I had with mine in PM's. |

If for street use, rather that for a WOT racing machine: Not to drill.
Reason: some inertia in the pressure changes and movement of the diaphragms is desirable, .......or so I believe. Rule of thumb: Performance mods almost invariably make a car or bike less usable as a street vehicle.

I could probably get some really tiny bits fairly easily. But im kinda torn here. The CV throttle response is pretty lazy right now. I'm not impressed

Anyone make lighter springs for the slides?
I'm thinking that would be a better way to tune the speed of lift over drilling. I agree with Motofool - "Rule of thumb: Performance mods almost invariably make a car or bike less usable as a street vehicle." |
