MOTORCYCLISTS in the North East are staging a charity ride to raise funds for a cancer-stricken three-year-old boy to receive life-saving treatment in the US.

Kian Musgrove from Newcastle is battling Neuroblastoma for a second time and his family are trying to raise £555,000 to fly the toddler to New York for specialist relapse treatment.

X-Factor judge Simon Cowell has donated £25,000 to the campaign.

Motorcyclist Debbie Todd from Durham has set up a Facebook page asking riders to attend the charity event in Newcastle this Sunday, with a suggested £5 donation per participant.

So far 64 riders have agreed to attend, with another 689 invited.

The ride will leave from the Roadhouse Grill on Sandy Lane in Gosforth at 11am on March 6, with exact details to be confirmed.

Ms Todd, a photographer, said: ‘I'm contacting people I know to try and get some items for a raffle.’
