The 400 has been out for a few years, but has only been available in a few markets where there are tax advantages compared to a larger bike. As far as I know, it's a clone of the Ninja 650, with a sleeved down version of that engine to get it near 400cc.

Like Alex said it was a clone of the 650 (the previous design) with the sleeved down engine... It could have been a winner in or our province (Québec) since the motorcycles (non supersport) under 401cc have lower registration fees. 351$ vs 557$ (over 401cc non suspersport) vs. 1 117$ (over 401 cc supersport) But with the 300, the power to weight ratio was slightly better, so I think they pulled the plug on the 400. |

They updated the styling to match the new 650s. My guess is that it will be offered in markets where the ninjette is still a 250.

You're right on that point, but the 400, being bigger, would have been more confortable (more space, bigger seat, grab handles) when riding two-up with my gal. For the rest, I'm way happier on my 250...
