International trip Sofia, Bulgaria - Kavala, Greece
International trip Sofia, Bulgaria - Kavala, Greece - 11th July - 12th July 2009
The idea : trip for fun and sigh seeing. Kavala is an ancient city founded by settlers from Thasos in about the 6Th century BC. It is the second largest city in northern Greece, the principal seaport of eastern Macedonia and the capital of Kavala prefecture. It is situated on the Bay of Kavala, across from the island of Thasos. The route : Sofia - Belovo - Razlog - Ilinden Eshohi ( Border Crossing ) - Drama - Kavala The distanse - 350+ kilometres ( one way ). If someone could explain me how to use google.map, I'll apreciate it. I noticed 4 forum members ( no one on our map ) including Stella from Greece. Perhaps they could give me an advice about the acomodation. The participants: Will ad an infomation. Here are some pictures of our destination. And this if from a place called Meteora, with a lot a monastries build on the rocks. I think is close to Kavala.

Despite the bad forecast ...rain hail and thunder...we are leaving tomorrow at 8.00 EET.
At least few of us... The rest quit. The real bikers do not. Ever.

Before starting the story of that trip I would like to ask you , (once again ) to excuse my English.
All distance and speed are in kilometers. My basic idea was to check - how would I feel after riding 800 kilometers in a weekend and how would it be to ride a Ninjette among the big bikes. It didn't let me down. My bike traveled equal to the others. Didn't slow down the group. Although we tried to keep average speed about 130 kph in Bulgaria and 120 kph in Greece, because of the speed limits... And the simple explanation - our cops are easy...they do take bribes - Greek do not. So, let the jurney begins. This is the litle beast ready to leave. Gathering and waiting for the last member The bike were : Honda Transalp 600 cc Suzuki Intruder Volusta 800 cc BMW K 1200 Piaggio X 9 500 cc ( with a lot of engine tunning ) and last, but not least Ninja 250R 2008 At the first brake - about 130 km from Sofia

Since no one from the original organizers took part we've decided to change the final destination. Instead of Kavala we headed to Asprovalta , Agios Georgios ( Saint George ) municipality.
http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=bg&q=...title&resnum=1 At the border... I had to make an emergency break, due to a friends mistake. I tried to stop from about 50+ to avoid a crash with the Piaggio X 9 and the bike sliped ( instead of hitting him ).... I was on the ground... the bike was was on the ground. God bless R & G crash protectors.... I still can't believe. Just a minor scratch on the left turn signal, gear , the stand and the crash bobbin. Incredible. Ah, I am fine as well. Never mind the low picture quality, will make new tomorrow.

I have checked the temperature at the border. It was 37 degrees Celsius. Minutes later it started to rain so the next hour was "I'm riding in the rain"
A stop to check at the map. The rain gave us a five minute break. a view to the sea Here we've just arrived to Stavros, a small city, close ( 30 km )to our destination... Beautyfull, isn't it ? At the local restaurant

While we were looking for a acomodation...
Few local girs in Asprovalta were very hapy to see foreign bikers ... This the way the say "HI" to us. If you don't mind I will continue with the rest tomorrow.
