Maintenance After 2,000 miles since '01
I've got a 93 Ninja that's gonna roll 12,000 miles this afternoon. I got it 2 years ago and sat until last month. (I've learned don't take on a project unless you can store it where you live). I was wondering what all maintenance you guys would recommend. I've rebuilt and cleaned the carbs, new plugs, new oil and filter, new fuel filter, new tires this weekend, within the month I'm doing a chain and a 15/42 sprocket combo. This winter i'm gonna adjust the valves and change all the fluids and everything. Is there anything immediate I'm missing? It runs great after the carb clean. I've put around 600 miles on it with no issues. Love the bike, excited for new tires so I'm not terrified cornering with any speed. I'm pretty sure it's got the original rubber on it

Sounds like you have it covered, once you do the fluids, valves, and tires.
I'm guessing you cleaned and oiled the air filter when you had the carbs off. Hopefully you removed the caps on the idle mixture screws when the carbs were off so you can fine-tune it. I'd also shim the cush drive when the rear wheel is off - https://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/How_to...the_cush_drive Factory Service schedule for more maintenance ideas - https://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/Service_Schedule General Ninja mechanical info - https://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/Ninja250_Howto |

Didn't know about shimming the cush drive. Thanks for the advice. I do notice quite a bit of lash. Glad to know I can get that taken care of.

Hopefully you remembered to clean out the oil screen.

Thanks for the tips on the oil screen. Had no idea about that. I was reading that a 106 chain should be the correct size for a 15/42 sprocket conversion. Can any of you confirm that?
