Leaking low speed mixture screw?
This morning i decided to get the bike started and go for a short ride but its very cold here in NW Indiana so getting her started it a project... I had enough time to adjust the mixture screws so i richened up both cylinders about 1/4 turn each. "when its this cold out the bike wont even start with the choke on." After that she fired right up even without the choke! WOW i went for a short 15 mile ride and was blow away i was having so much fun the bike was pulling so hard all through the revs. But i noticed my idle went from 1300rpms to 1500-1600. so i went home and parked the bike and checked the carbs and this is what i found.
it looks like the right mixture screw is leaking? By the way this is my bike |

Jordan,
Sorry, can't see your picture clearly of the mixture screw area. Can you take another??? Possibly use the macro feature on the camera? If the screw is backed out too much, it can leak, I believe. You should check to see how many turns you are backed out on that mixture screw. Also, there is a gasket in there, so that could be leaking. |

Is it greasy or "wet" around that area? Doesn't look like it.
You might want to place a piece of paper/cardboard under that area and leave it overnight to see if you can find traces of a leak. Better yet would be a small container filled with some water. |

You'll lose some low end w/o the airbox, but I feel the gains were worth it in the midrange through top end pull.
Pulling the airbox out was the biggest problem and if I had to do it over, I don't think I'd switch. I'd keep the airbox, stick a drop in K&N filter (or some other aftermarket filter) and remove the snorkel. |
