Aftermarket Drop in Type Air Filters

Anyone using an aftermarket Drop in Type filter with their stock airbox? Like to hear your actual results.

Blue most show minimal gains but they do flow better. Will you notice a difference? Probably not. The plus side is having to not clean it as much.

Bike is fine. Dont expect too much from a filter change and you wont be let down. You have to swap alot of aftermarket parts on your ride for this to make a noticeable change. On the flip side I think its better than the foam filter that comes stock.

Pipercross is a sponser of 250R racing, and they have a good product.

Here's their website and review....

Just a note... My dealership warned me, that replacing the stock filter with an aftermarket variety would require some carb work, to correct the lean condition. So even the dealers acknowlege that the aftermarket replacement can be less restrictive.

I plonked this in and have ridden my bike for a little over 1000 miles.

I noticed that the exhaust pop's (stock can) when the bike is slightly revved up when in idle. Is the engine running lean? Is this a cause for worry? Should i go back to the stock foam filter? My ninjette is fuel injected and a 2010 model. I thought the ECU adjusts to compensate for more air that is flowing in. Am i right?

Please help.

hard to comment as most have carbs and not FI on their bikes, so not many with experience here to offer opinions on your problem.

do you happen to have a service manual that you can consult?

I had a BNC airfilter before I jetted and put my 2bros exhaust _ backfired ect took it out and jetted put it in again and bike ran flawlessly_ but that was carbed bike_ but I'd assume with FI you'd atleast need an aftermarket exhaust...if the Ecu does auto adjust ?? "L

Popping with the stock exhaust sounds unique for just a filter change. I have heard the K&N can be hard to seal properly. compare the fit of the K&N to stock, then make sure that you have no air leaks. Popping would definitely be indicative of a lean condition. Any other mods that you have done?
