[visordown.com] - No Brookes at 2015 Isle of Man TT

JOSH Brookes will not compete at the 2015 Isle of Man TT according to Milwaukee Yamaha's team owner Shaun Muir.

Brookes has competed twice at the Isle of Man TT, but it looks like the popular Australian will not be racing on the roads at all next year.

According to bikesportnews Muir stated that the YZF-R1 development programme needs the team to concentrate purely on circuit racing.

“I worked very hard on Josh to get him to stay with us. There was no doubt that if he was staying in BSB that he would stay with us, which was good to hear. I know he wants to do the TT but his focus is going to be working very closely with the factory," said Muir speaking to bikesportnews.

“We have made a package for him to do these wildcards, and we have given him options in his contract to go to WSBK with the factory supported team whoever that may be. For that reason we want to keep him sharp and on the money.

“Our relationship is such that the factory in Japan has made it very clear that the focus on short-circuit racing will be the British Superbike championship, which is fantastic for us and the BSB championship. There is going to be a high level of input from Japan," concluded Muir.

This isn't the first time there has been uncertainty regarding whether Brookes would race on the roads or not.

In 2014 new technical regulations were introduced at the Isle of Man TT preventing the use of after market electronics systems such as the Magneti Marelli ECU meaning the Milwaukee Yamaha bike would not longer be competitive which left Brookes 'pretty frustrated' as 'he was already working out how to improve on the Mountain Course'.

However, Brookes is still part of the official Yamaha team next season and will take part in the Suzuki Eight-Hours as well as selected World Superbike rounds as a wildcard, but unfortunately will not be racing on the roads.
