2012 differences

Anyone notice anything different?

Someone noted that the choke lever is longer, I also just noticed the handlebar bolts either have caps, or aren't bolts.

They are covers.. There are no diffrences, it's the same bike since 2008, minus the change to white gauges in 2011.

There are a few other (very minor) differences along the way. The battery capacity changed for 2009 or 2010, the OEM tires changed from 2008 - 2009, the exhaust coating has changed over the years. There are likely a few more. But by and large, all of the things that matter have stayed the same, and the noticeable differences are related to colors and graphics.

I always wish they would make the stock muffler a little more pretty. Maybe an underside like the 650 or one that looks like the ZX-6R would be nice. Just my own opinion.

The clock came from CVS (found it thanks to a member on here). The handlebar bolts do have caps over them.

I haven't seen too many newgens up close and never paid very close attention to deatil on them but off the top of my head here are a few pics of things that look like they have changed. Without getting too in-depth on the details the handlebar bolts are capped as mentioned earlier and the choke lever is a little larger. I don't remember the gearbox cover being "vented" like the 2012 in earlier models (could be wrong). Other than that and a lack of 250 decals everything appears to be the same from what I can remember.

AFAIK, gearbox cover hasn't changed. Looks like my 2008.

Cool, wasn't sure if it was the same or not, seemed like it was solid from what I could remember.

TBH, every one of those details looks exactly like my 2011, even the caped bolts

Based on the kawasaki website, it seems that the only thing that has changed in the 2012 model is more stripes on the paint job (except for the pure green model).

There's some wiring change between 09 and 10 models as well. Not sure how extensive it is, but I noticed the gauge wiring now has 2 20ga wires for the indicator light. No idea why they went with 2 instead of a single wire. I'd really like to see a factory manual to compare differences. Like you said though, all minor changes.

The 2008 model likely had IRC Roadwinners somewhere. My 2008 manual lists them right along side Bridgestone Battalax BT45 and Dunlop ArrowMax GT501.
