All dark, no juice

So I disconnected my trickle charger. Turn the key, everything lights up. Hit the ignition switch, everything goes black. Swapped the battery from a second bike. Same, nothing lights up. Checked all the fuses, all good. Never had anything like that before. Any Ideas.

Do the lights come back on when you release the button? If so, jump start it.

The bike would not jump start. Started flowing the wires and found the wire that runs from battery with a bad spot. The rubber jacket on the wire was good but the wire inside was broken.
