had a gem of a call the other day.

young kid (by sound of his voice and the way he spoke) calls and proceeds to blow smoke up my ass about the bike I have for sale. Then asks if I will trade for a POS quad.

I say No, just sell your quad and call me back when you get the cash.

Kid: Well even if I sell it I will only get like $700 for the quad so I wouldn't have enough for the bike.

(so originally wants to trade me POS quad that is not even close to worth the bike, pretty normal)

Then the kid asks me if I will take $700,

NO

Kid: Well what about a payment plan, I am not that far away?

NO

Kid: Oh hey, ill call you right back I have a call on the other line.

Kid calls back: Oh hey, that was some guy who is going to buy my quad, gonna pick it up tomorrow for $900. Ill give you $900 for the bike.

^Seriously? NO!! no one just called you, no one is buying your quad and I'm not selling you a bike at this point even if you did have enough money.

In my experience, the Facebook classifieds are about the best place to buy and sell. There are still many time wasters, people that will ask one question every day for months, and then try and low ball you, but the scammers and thieves won't even try on there. I've been doing quite well flipping cars and bikes on Fb lately. They have a good thing going on there for both buyer and seller.

We got a kick out of that around the house here. He wants to trade, but then admits his quad isn't worth enough.

I had one guy tell me he was at work and could not get an insurance quote over the internet due to "restrictions" yet Craigslist worked? He wanted me to run the info thru the insurance site he sent me a link to. I did it for him with a fake name and SS#.
This dumb bastard actually message me back and said he needed me to use my actual info so he could get a more realistic quote! How stupid must he be to not realize I figured out his scam? I kept leading him on for days until he finally gave up and stopped contacting me. Minor victory but made me feel better to have keep him on the line for sometime!

I've learned to stop answering as soon as the "buyer" asks me to go to a web site to do something for him. That will always be either a commission to him or someone stealing my credit card information.

I do appreciate your taking the scammer's time though. One could argue that they'd have to stop if enough people wasted their time. Another argument is that they'd have to stop if no one fell for their scams. It's like email spam... it would be eliminated from the world very quickly if no one clicked the links, opened the attachments, etc..

Maybe it would look cool when finished and painted. As is, it looks like a rolling death trap. That is, if it rolls.

Here's one we can all appreciate -

Kawasaki Ninja 300cc - $8500

I have a 2015 Kawasaki ninja 300cc for sale. I bought it to drive for the summer and now I am selling. This bike is basically NEW, it has just over 1k miles on it. It has an aftermarket pipe and blue under glow. SERIOUS BUYERS ONLY!

Seriously.

My 2010 Ninja 250 had strategically placed sticker on it. Turns out it was there to cover a crack on the fairing when I took them off after purchasing. Nothing serious but crack was getting longer as I rode without the sticker so DIY fixed with some JB weld.. I'll know better next time!

In my experience, anyone selling a Japanese cruiser with "got harley parts on it...." as a selling point is an idiot and is going to tell you about how fantastic their neglected motorcycle is, and will tell you what an amazing deal you're getting.
