How to protect the fairing against chips
On cars, they have 3m vinyl wrap or other spray protectant to prevent chip stones. I want to protect the ninja fairing especially the portion closest to the ground. Any idea what are some method that works, and doesn't look obvious!?
I would like to apply it on the gas tank as well. |

Duct tape.
Seriously, the film exists, but IMHO it's more trouble than it's worth. It'll be very difficult to get all the air bubbles out from underneath, it probably won't look that good and it may cause the unprotected paint to age differently compared to the areas where it's applied. Besides... if you're trying to keep the paint perfect so that the bike looks good, then why are you covering it? All you'll see is the film with the paint behind, which will never look as good as the paint alone. Chips are just mojo. The only way to keep your bike pristine is to never ride it. Is it a tool/form of transportation or a sacred relic? Get out and ride. Avoid dirt/gravel roads and dump trucks. Clean the bike when you're done. Wax it occasionally. Don't worry about the inevitable dings. If you MUST have perfect body panels, then the best thing to do is buy a set and store them. Put them on when you need the bike to look like it just came out of the showroom. There are some areas worth covering anyway because they're subject to high wear... the back of the tank. I just use a regular tank protector... Also, if I'm traveling with luggage I put painter's tape over creases in the body panels where the straps rub. That's about it....

Nicks, dings and chip are inevitable, however ther are a few things that may help minimize them.
