When I want to make a gasket, I lay the material on the part and tap around it with a soft hammer gently. It leaves a print I can follow to cut it out. But maybe you already know that technique.

You're welcome. It's the way my father taught me to do it when I was about eight or ten (late 60s) and he got a discarded lawnmower engine so we could take it apart and put it back together. Welcome to the board by the way, Cody.

I just lay cover over gasket-material and trace outside with sharp Xacto knife. One-pass and it's 1/2-done.

Then I carefully do inside-cut while maintaining constant width. 2nd-pass and it's done.

Nice clean edges that doesn't protrude past edge of cases like a gang of beavers gnawed at it.

I've also tried computer-controlled vinyl-cutter, but that took longer to draw shape correctly than to just carve by hand.
Also considered laser-engraver, but again, takes a while to draw exact shape of gasket to guide laser. Faster to wield Xacto knife!

If you have a computer printer sometimes you can lay the part on the platin glass and make a copy that you can then glue to the gasket material with a glue stick. A cork hole borer works well for punching screw and bolt holes.

Sure. I would advise placing a piece of clothing or cloth over the object you're copying to block as much extraneous light from hitting the platen (spelled right this time) glass. If you can, turn off all the lights in the room also.
