Radical idea ?

Knowing the extreeeeeem love we have for our bikes....
what's your opinion on this idea?

http://www.connectriders.com/

My opinion:
If it were @ $100 a connection, I'd take the chance.
This is def a big city idea. Sounds insane if you own a bike....sounds like a gift from heaven if you dont.

Interesting idea, but guess depends how much you trust others to be on one of your bikes. Other then that very interesting.

This scheme puts all the risk back on the moto owner. It's like offering moto rentals but without needing to own, insure or maintain the fleet. It would interesting to hear how the moto owner is compensated when something goes wrong like a crash or a mechanical failure that was caused by abuse. It's a great deal for the service provider, not so great for the moto owner IMHO.

it sounds like the thing handles the insurance aspect... if you read their site:

Quote:
Strict screening and insurance.

We get it. You love your bike more than your fiancée. We have a strict selection process where only allow the safest and most responsible riders to even register. We check driving history, criminal history, and cross check identity. Even then, you choose who gets to ride your bike whether it is your best friends (if they pass), other pre-screened riders, or no one at all.

Even then, the worst can happen. We know this too well and so your motorcycles are fully insured no matter what. A damage deposit is collected to even cover any cosmetic damages should they happen. We plan on even getting you a replacement bike if you happen to get down time.

We treat your motorcycles as if they are our very own. Your riders are always insured too.

Our promise.

I am extremely comfortable with this. I have an 80s bike that looks like it's been through hell and back.

So....how much do I make? I'll take $20/day.

Thanks but i'd pass. I worry too much as it is. My bike with a stranger? I dont care how much screening they go through, no. Not for me.

I have trust issues.

Nope. No thanks.

I'll let my buddies ride it if they know what they're doing. I'll even overlook some "beauty marks" they may create while riding. (to an extent). But not a random stranger, that's for sure.

So far it looks like a creative scam to harvest emails of motorcyclists.

Most of the opinions discussed herein are right on point with my own.

- No one touches my bike.
- No one gets within touching distance of my bike.
- No one touches my bike.
- Please see rules number 1 and 3.

Something along the lines of "this machine hauls my ass up to 110mph, and then back down to 0mph in the distance of 49 feet. NO I DON'T TRUST YOU WITH MY LIFE ENOUGH TO LET YOU TRY AND REPAIR MY FRONT BRAKING SYSTEM ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN THE RAIN."
