Engine Coolant

Good Morning Ninjette,

I had a few quick questions about engine coolant. I checked my levels today and it seems incredibly low. It's been about a year since it was last switched out/serviced but I am about 800 miles away from the 7,500 mi service.

Could i just buy any "green" engine coolant from an auto parts store to bring the levels back to normal in the white container on the left side of the bike until it's due for service?

Good question...I'm wondering about this too. I'm about to hit the 11,000 mile mark, when should I have my coolant changed and with what?

The layout of this article pertains to the pre-gen, but the concept is the same.

Ethylene glycol is what's used. Can buy it straight and pre-mixed. Pre-mixed is easier to deal with and just add it directly.

Andre - you're here in CA. Just go to the supermarket and buy distilled water for a buck or two. Top off the coolant.
