I know exactly how you feel. Had about 16 days straight here where it would rain at least once if not twice a day. We're not talking light rain either, we're talking the sideways, coming down so hard it makes it seem foggy out type of rain. You also couldn't predict just when the sky would open up and just dump a ton of rain on ya. So yah, I know just how you feel with that.

+1 here. I do ride in the rain when I reallllly have the urge but its not as much fun as when its bright and warm...the positive doesn't outweigh the negative for me so most of the time the bike is lonely when it rains

I feel more planted on the ground riding the ninja in the rain vs driving a car. I don't have to deal with the whole wheel jerking caused by puddles. The bike runs straight no matter what. I prefer riding when it rains. The main factor for me is wind, and temp. If it is windy or hot, I won't be riding in the rain. Stinks for it to be hot and have to wear full rain gear.

Riding in the rain is ok (if you have to) I hate having to clean the bike after though.

Riding in a straight line isn't a problem, but riding through corners is. My daily commute road is twisty, passes through vineyards, and often has dirt on it thanks to farmers driving their tractors from the vineyards onto the road. I already spun out there once (full 360 degrees - scared the sh*t out of me) with my car when it was only a little moist. With my motorcycle, I'm extremely cautious there now when it's not completely dry and clean.

I almost rode in the rain today. I was out and about and the clouds looked scarey so I called home and asked my son to look at the weather channel and see what gives. He told me it was real bad and go to a restaurant (pub for all you guys)and wait until it blows over. I told him I was going to ride home and went into a bait shop and asked for a plastic bag to hold my wallet and cell phone. I head home and low and behold the lord was on my side. The clouds parted and I only got a drizzle on me twice for 25 miles. There was down pours all around me but I guess I'm just untouchable.

Between the peacock incident and the rain clouds missing me I felt so lucky I bought a lottery ticket.

I like how you perfectly stated my sentiment. Then I noticed you also live on the Island... There are two seasons here, Rain and Construction...

In the rain, it's not ME I'm worried about, it's all of the other idiots that don't look for me, don't care to look for me, and sure as HELL won't look for me in the reduced visibility of the rain.

That said, my backpack that I take to/from work when I ride has a rain suit in it, among other supplies. Saved me from being miserable the few times that I had no choice but to ride home in the tropical down pours that we get here every afternoon.

Pleasure rides, though, rain is a big "NO GO". Besides, I maintain the bike in super clean condition, and there is no way I would go thorught the trouble of making work for myself if I didn't have to.

It is all about the gear. I mean the clothing you have on . As long as you are warm and dry it is fun . As soon as the water runs into your crotch or shoes it sucks.

absolutely, love having waterproof boots, but when my crotch gets wet, thats where the fun stops...

on another note, just the other day, monday? I think, it was raining here, I rode the bike in to work anyways, was fine on the way in, but then on the way home it was especially slippery... the rear tire actually broke loose as I left a light, not the most comfortable feeling in the world

I'm praying we don't get any rain this weekend for the Houston rally. So far it looks good.
