What's "Factory Support"
I often hear the commentators in MotoGP and SBK saying that "Rossi has Ducati's Factory Support". I think that means that Ducati is giving Rossi money and a bike to ride?
Another question. Why are factory supported bikes usually faster and quicker, even though there could be a bike of the same brand, without there support. To clarify, rider A is riding a factory supported bike, an Aprilia. He outruns motorcycle B another Aprilia, which doesn't have factory support. Any ideas?

A "Factory" bike and rider are able to get much more expensive and "one-off" parts. They literally have support of the factory for that brand of bike for all the research, development, and engineering.
