Rate Yourself: Insurance Whore Rankings
This is a spinoff of Floyds thread Gear Whore Rankings and a follow up to Insurance, and Why You Need More of it We have a thread to brag about our gear and I think we need a thread to brag about our insurance coverage.
The stats may vary from state to state but we can correct any problems we run into. And sorry non American ninjetters if these rankings do not accurately portray you So, you're geared up ATGATT and feeling safe, but what about your mythical motorcycle riding insurance angel? Is it as well geared up as you or riding around in a half helmet and flip flops hoping to never take a spill? Note: For the liability portion we will focus only on the per person amounts to avoid confusion. For example on a 100/300/50 policy you would match up the 100 to the list below. The same goes for an uninsured/underinsured at 100/300. If your amount is not on the list (i.e. 300 CSL) round to the closest amount, in this case 250k Liability -1 Point for no coverage 0 Points for state required minimum of 15k 1 Point for 25-30k 2 Points for 50-60k 3 Points for 100k 5 Points for 250k 7 Points for 500k or more Uninsured/Underinsured -1 Point for no coverage 1 Point for 15k 2 Points for 25-30k 4 Points for 50-60k 6 Points for 100k 8 Points for 250k 12 Points for 500k or more Medical Payments 0 Points for no coverage 2 Points for 1-10k 4 Points for more than 10k Comprehensive 0 Points for no coverage 1 Point for coverage Collision 0 Points for no coverage 3 Points for coverage Accessory 0 Points for no coverage 1 Point for coverage (any amount) If you have multiple bikes add up the points for each insured bike and then divide the score by the number of bikes you own. I decided not to include roadside assistance because they really just give you gas or tow you and there are other services that provide this feature besides insurance like credit cards, cell phone service, AAA, riders of kawasaki, etc.

Going to raise my the unins/underins to 250/500 to be consistent with my cars, i thought i had done this last month, called my agent and left a message. |

Hm, I dont see anything weird with my swingarm? Yeah, my rate sucks, that's the ****** part about supersports. But it's worth it. I'm going to see if state-farm has a cheaper rate. But I pay month to month and only insure the bike for like half of the year so it's not that bad

Yea AAA doesn't haha you have to go in or call. If you go in you'll get a better rate but like I said, my experience has been that with larger CC bikes they have far better prices

lowside and hit a pedestrian, high side and hit oncoming traffic, get run off the road and hit a transformer etc. there are many scenarios where you wont get injured but your bike and the other vehicle will be totalled. what you described is a 50/100/25 coverage. what is the next one up? |

Your liability will cover any damage you do to another person or their vehicle up to the amounts specified. Your uninsured/underinsured will cover you when the other driver does not have enough insurance. The problem is many people drive around with minimums or no insurance at all and so to avoid financial ruin from their negligence you need at least 100/300 uninsured/underinsured though 250 or higher would be preferred

Dunno my exact limits. They're conveniently located and organized if I need to reference them. I do know I have very high coverage for injuries, property damage, uninsured motorist, etc. I paid $500 for my bike. I don't have collision or comprehensive for that reason. I would only come out $150 ahead. I'd rather buy it back and rebuild it as a track only bike if I'm unfortunate enough to be involved in an accident.
