More info generally helps such as low battery, starter clicking, spark plugs health, etc. Are you trying to move the bike to push start it since it's low battery? You should be moving the bike while in neutral, not first. Most likely it's clogged as the link will point out since it's been 3 months. |

Ya I have charged the battery. I was trying to start it in neutral and it wouldnt so I thought it give it a go to jump start thats when I realized first gear was kind of sticking like there was friction or something but it moves perfectly fine in neutral. I also changed the oil, I put fuel stabilizer but I have a feeling I may have put to much could this be the reason?

Is it cranking? Give us every little detail even if you think it's obvious.

the clicking noise happens when you run down the battery from over use. the battery needs to be fully recharged before continuing.
3 months in storage... have you drained the old gas and refilled with fresh gas, yet? I recommend you add some seafoam to the gas to help clean out your fuel system. I also suggest draining the carbs bowls of fuel, before you continue, to remove wherever crud that might have collected there over those months. |

Ya already charged it. Went to the shop and asked for some help and they recommended draining carbs which I did or try a new spark plug but I dont think that will solve the problem but Ill give it a try.
I have not yet drained the old gas whats the quickest way? I will also try picking up seafoam for the gas and let you know how that works. thanks for your help hopefully one of these will do it dying to get out and ride!! |

if you've already drained the carbs, they are empty at this point and maybe that's why the bike is hard to start now. On the pregens, to get the petcock to flow fuel, you need to apply a vacuum source to the small vacuum tube that runs to the back of the petcock. I always recommend to place a piece of vacuum tube to the back of the petcock and gently suck on the tube until the fuel starts flowing or you can use a vacuum tool like a mityvac to apply the needed vacuum.
try my vacuum tube trick to get the carbs filled back up, then try starting the bike. Otherwise, it takes a lot of cranking to get enough fuel to flow to refill the carb bowls. |

I think he needs to pull the carbs and clean the pilot jets. I know this sounds like an extreme solution, but my '08 would not start this season after charging the battery, draining the float bowls, new gas in the tank and a Seafoam treatment. When I finally pulled the carbs and removed the pilot jets, I was surprised to see that they were completely clogged, even though the gas in the bowls wasn't all that bad.
You can safely clean the pilots with a strand of fine copper wire unwound from some stranded cable (and some solvent) if they are stubborn. Don't force it though, if it won't go, find a finer piece of wire. Incidentally, I shimmed my needles when I put it all back together (one washer each, a set found in my extensive collection), and I'm pleased to report that the bike is much less cold blooded than before. I can take it off choke much sooner, with no stumbling or hesitation, but I can't say I feel much difference otherwise. |

Are you positive the battery is good? May have multiple issues here but running the starter once wouldn't run the battery down to just the solenoid click. Bad batteries can take a charge (and seem charged) but lose the charge instantly. I'd also bet the carbs are gummed...
