Talking Shiny New Ninjette!!

I bought my first ever Ninjette today. It's also my first ever motorcycle. Really happy with it. They look so much nicer than in the pictures. Heavier than I imagine too. At the shop it was positioned near some much-bigger-engine bikes, and didn't look out of place.

It's a 2011 edition. It has had one prior owner who only rode it for ~350 miles before selling. It looks like the previous owner made 3 [all desirable] modifications. He added a seat cowl, a tank scratch protector and he got one of those trimmed down number plate holders installed so there isn't that long bit of plastic that hangs over the back wheel.

I haven't ridden it yet because I've still got to complete a course I'm doing before I'm allowed to ride anything bigger than a 125CC bike. Can't wait to give it a go.

Transporting it from the shop in a van was pretty difficult. There weren't enough decent points to tie the straps too. I ended up doing the best I could with the straps then padding out the van with used motorcycle tires. I spent most of the 3 hour drive staring at it to make sure it didn't tip: the Ninjette toughed out the bumpy ride just fine. I think the shop owner was pretty chuffed to have got rid of those old tires too that were just lying around

Jealous! I fired up the engine a couple of times and I swear, through the deep rumbling engine noises I could hear a feint voice saying: "ride me... ride me...".

Congrats on getting your Ninjette too and take care out on the road.

For what it's worth, you can ride it on your property. Can't get a ticket for that

Obey the sticker! I guess I'll have to stick to riding it standing on the pegs.

I'm going to take more pictures when I'm riding it. I want to play that picture game that's going on in one of the threads. It looks fun.

Ok. 1 more!

The only benefit I can see of the 2011 edition over the 2008,9 and 10 editions is that this one has white dials on the dash - looks good!

I actually prefer the red Ninjettes, but they don't sell them here. If I scratch mine up or suddenly get loaded I'll get some red fairings shipped here. I guess I'd have to get the tank sprayed too.

Or you can leave the tank red and have a Christmas color based bike

Hopefully this is soon. I bought my bike about 2-3 weeks before I actually got on it. It was painfully long and saddening walking past it every morning to get in my car and drive to work.

Congratulations on that ! I know how frustrating it can be, I got a Honda 400/4 when I was 17 before my test, and I did take it for one sneaky ride up the A30 whilst my folks were out shopping
Scared the life out of me
(That was 32 years ago ).

I bet the roads were nice and clear 32 years ago. Too many humans now.

It's currently resting at my Aunty's house so at least I don't see it all the time. It seems to pop into my head at least once every hour though.

I'm not sure why it is so satisfying pressing that starter button and hearing the engine there's got to be some primal reason behind it! Large mammalian predators often make similar noises I suppose - loud and deep growling. With that in mind, surely hearing the bike should be a scary thing, not a nice thing. Maybe it's to do with the thought that you are in control of the bike, ie - in control of the beast. I don't know.

I spent 10 days in ireland visiting all the folks and cousins a bit back and rode a de-restricted nsr125, awesome. We don't get many smaller displacement bikes for asphalt here. I was shocked at what they were asking for the ninjettes. So it's nice to see somone purchase such a fine roadbike there. Congradulations Bro and welcome from an islander. I'll never forget all the burned out 125 engines from being maxxed out riding, won't happen to you for sure.

Thanks.

I see young people all the time here on 50cc and 125cc bikes riding along with the poor little engine running at max revs giving off a constant high pitch whirr.

They are more expensive here than in the states. I got a really good deal on mine but it still wasn't cheap... that's all my savings gone.

I wanted something reliable as I plan to ride through France on it quite soon. I figure it's also safer to be on a modern bike like this with decent breaks, handling and power.
