ex250 for tall rider?
Considering a 03 EX 250. I'm 6' 5", inseam is 36". Majority of height is in my torso.
Haven't had a chance to sit on it yet and wondering how the tall riders here fit on the bike. Are there are kits to make the pegs adjustable? Thanks! |

I am 6'4 230 and 35"-36" inseam. I ride my wifes bike sometimes. It is ok, I sit more upright than most other 250 riders. There is plenty of room just don't let your lower limbs fall asleep. Longest I have been on the 250 at one time is 1.5 hours and 70-80 miles, lots of back woods riding. It is a fun bike, If it is just for you look for a stronger rear spring and better to your weight front springs. I was worried about pulling a few bigger hills but it pulled at 60mph+ in 6th gear just fine.
If you are getting it just for the fun factor or to save gas it is great! If you are getting it to daily drive (only thing you own) look for a little bigger bike. Even the new style seems to have more room then the older. |

There are plenty of things you can do to adjust height....yes there are peg adjusters "rear sets" that allow you to change footing...for me (i'm about 6'2 205) I installed some hyabusa lowering links on my 250. It actually raised the rear about 3 inches and it makes it more comfortable for me. However, this will change traction on both the front and rear wheels so know what your getting into before you do something like that.
You can also install a rear shock from a zx6r (which there is a DIY on ninjette for) which I think raised the rear about 2inches. but that shock requires a some modification to the shock and mud guard....... |
