Off road trike help gpz 500

Hi guys. I’ve got myself a gpz 500 trike but I’m struggling with spark. I don’t really want a full complicated loom for off-road. I’m needing someone who knows about the wiring and can help me creat a simplified loom. I can’t find anything for the gpz. I had already made a race loom for an ex500 but that had 2 magnetos where as the gpz only has one. Even if someone knows what wires do what on the ignition box I could then creat my own custom loom. Only thing I could find was for a 250. Thanks.

Hullo Stephen, wylcome to Ninjette!!

You have early 1st-gen 500 with single pickup coil. You can find wiring diagram for it by doing Google for "classic early gpz500 wiring diagram". There's hit on classic site with DIR_1667004 which contains PDF.

Then go to this thread where people posted their own minimal diagrams.

How can you post about an off road GPZ500 powered trike and not give us pictures?

Apologies. Never though about pictures. In a rough state but you’ll get the idea. It’s a little narrow though but thats the way I bought it.

Wow, that is narrow and tall. Narrow and a high center of gravity is not a good combination. Take it easy when riding off road.

Once it’s up and running I’m going to look at getting a longer swing arm and a wider axle for it. Should be a good bit of fun though.
