Factory Service Repair manuals? Which one?
You read the title, which one do you have and which do you prefer? I'm not talking the dopy little owners manual that came with the bike, I'm talking the full monty; the step by step directions that the kawi dealers use to service your bike.
Some that I've found: The kawi one. Part #99924-1066-01 Part #99924-1109-66 electronic copy for $5 (maybe too good to be true, but I'm buying it now, as it's $5) http://www.ebay.com/itm/1986-07-Kawa...-/121504060312 the clymber version http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kawasaki-Nin...-/381057448816 the Haynes version http://www.ebay.com/itm/1985-2007-Ka...el%3ANinja+250 Lemme know, thanks everyone. |

I discovered inaccuracies in the Clymer manual for other bikes and will never buy another. I have the factory service manual for all my bikes and recommend those over any other.

I haven't had any issues with my clymer yet but I haven't done everything there is to do in the book so my opinion there isn't 100% accurate.

Thought on service manuals:
'03 Ninjette: bike came with both Kwak factory manuals. They're OK. '94 K75: came with a Haynes manual (it's very good, better than Kwak Ninjette factory manuals). Next-door neighbor gave me his Clymer manual when he sold his K75 (twice as thick as Haynes, but not nearly as good). '05 KLR250: don't have a manual, not gonna bother getting one (there's enough info on the internet and in the Ninjette books to cover anything I'll ever do). '75 TR6: the Bentley manual is well worn and well loved - covers everything very well. Factory manual is similar to Bentley, but in a 3-ring plastic binder. Daughter's '89 Subaru DL Wagon: 2 Factory manuals are very good. '94 Saturn SL2: 2 feet thick worth of plastic-binder-bound factory manuals. They suck. '97 SL500: Have M-B shop manual on CD. It's OK but not great. Other Daughter's 2000 Solara: Haven't bought a manual yet. Toyota dealer sells the Haynes (which I'll probably get). My mom's '03 Forester: Factory manual set is OK. A little better than Saturn, but not as good as K75 Haynes. '04 Jag: Have the Jag manual on CD. It's OK but not great. |

I have the Clymer manual. I've had a few frustrations, like where they use a different word than the diagram labels the part as and then expect you to know what that is. I can't say that the others are better though.

I own the Haynes. One thing to note is it mixes bike models in the same sections so if that bugs you then don't buy it. The color schematics are nice......
