engine oil in water bottle

Quick question.

As I preparing myself from a 3 days Ninjette trip, I was wondering if I can use a "PET" water bottle to carry my extra engine oil. I still have 250 ml or so in the original bottle, but I don't want to carry an almost empty 1 liter bottle.

I made some research and I'm pretty sure I can do it, since "PET" is a very good barrier for oil and a very good chemical resistance and engine oil doesn't seems to contain acetones or ketones.

Am I right in my reasoning?

Thanks.

you are okay. Might as well carry a full oil change.

I put oil in dried out water bottles all the time, as well as about anything else, and have yet to have any issues in over 6 years in the motor pool, and the rest of my life.

I use the bottles from auto zone that are for fuel treatment. They are small. oil, gas, and chemical resitant and dont leak.

Thanks for your confirmations...

I just wanted to bring a small quantity to "top off", if I ever need it... it's more of a preventive thing.

Are you doing the same thing about chain lube?

What about means to repair a flat tire?

For the flat tire repair kit... Bit the bullet once, now I'm readu for the next one...

For the chain lube, the chain will be adjusted and lubed tonight, I don't think it will need to be lube during my trip.

But it's a good comment, if I ever leave longer or ride longer, I'll think about it.

Thanks,

The chain should be lubed ever 200 miles or so, so yeah, you should bring some chain lube with you.

Every gas stop is a good rule of thumb.
