Saturdays work for me. So let's set a preliminary date for saturday.

Not this saturday though, there's not much prep time for the others on this forum since that's tomorrow.

I vote next saturday.

I am going to need to replace some brake pads and fluid and maybe a coolant flush. I might even do a few small things like cable lubings and what not. I don't have the break pads yet so not sure about that, but I'd still be down to meet up

I can ask for this coming Saturday off and bring my tools to help anyone out with their bike. I just changed out my front and rear sprocket along with a new chain. I've worked on my car a lot and now working on my bike...fun fun.

Did I read that wrong, 1-2 hours to do a valve adjustment on a new gen?

There's no way, if you can do it that fast I'd love to see it.

If no one bothered me and I worked on it uninterrupted and non-stop I could do it in 2 hours. But in reality I can't work on my bike uninterrupted for two hours so the world may never know

We always welcome new riders. In our most recent group ride we had a guy who was only about 3 weeks on his bike come with us. except for a minor crash the day went without incident.

As for the group ride portion of the day, if you need any help learning how to ride your bike i'm glad to help. I'm not super experienced, but I've been on my bike for a year now. I've learned a few things.

I can get my bikes valve adjust done in about 1.5hrs, it gets very routine when you've done it a couple times before and know where things are or where they're supposed to go. Though mine is a Pregen, I don't expect the new models to be too much different.

The new models are quite different. Have you looked at the DIYs on it? Adjusting the valves requires removal of the camshafts, and thus the retiming and retensioning of the timing chain.

If you've never done that before it can take quite some time.

My first valve adjustment spanned two days, although a good chunk of that time would have been taken out if I had read certain parts of the manual that I didn't notice before. I don't expect my next one to take more than a day, or even a full day, but I expect it to take a few hours, at the very least.

If rojoracing says he can do it in two hours I'll take his word for it, but damn that's fast.

I read all the DIYs on pregens elsewhere without realizing it was different. Only realized it was different after I bought my newgen.

I've never cracked an engine open and managed it ok, I'd have had it done in a day if I didn't run into the issues with the timing chain. If you have experience ripping into a motor than I can't imagine you'd have too much trouble adapting to the new one, so long as you have access to the manual/read up enough on the DIYs.

Agreed. I adapt well to new things so long as I have an instruction manual and have seen roughly the inside of what i'm working on.

I know i'll be able to figure it out, and hopefully quickly.

I added about 1500miles on my bike since I got it. But it wasn't until last week that I started to downshift when coming to a stop. I always coasted with my clutch in and click down all my gears, which I know is not the best thing to do unless in an emergency. But yeah, I be excited to join.

well it appears that we don't exactly have a proper place to meet up for a tech day at the moment, but we can still get a group ride going.

All we need is a meet up location. from what i've gathered, we have a

Paramount, West Hollywood, and a Brentwood rider.

as a suggestion, we can hit up Neptunes Net on PCH. very scenic route with the end point about 29 miles from santa monica.

open to other locations, but this was just a suggestion. I'll go with just about anybody, I need to get on the road again.

any questions, comments, or concerns... or just need a quick reply to a message txt me..

Wait, so is there a ride this Sunday(tomorrow) or was it today?

I saw a blue 250 at Santa Monica Blvd and Sepulveda Blvd about 1:40 today. Was that one of you?

It was yesterday (saturday).

We were on a green/white 250, and my red/black 250.

Chances are this is going to happen again in a week or two.
