2007 zzr 250 brake and clutch levers

hey all.

I wanted to get some aftermarket shorty levers of the zzr. The ones I have now are adjustable. I know that the regular 250's didn't come with this option. it also comes stock with ex500 shocks in the front. What are the chances that the levers are off of a 500 as well? I can't find the levers on the net or ebay. but when they do show up, they are listed for multiple bikes including the 500. Any thoughts?

I'm not sure, but there are few other ZZR owners on the site. Maybe take some pictures of your existing setup?

For anyone who has a zzr. The adjustable 500 levers fit the stock housing.

2007 ZZR250 shorty brake and clutch lever

Hi,

Sorry for reviving this thread. Iv got a 2007 ZZR250 and looking to replace the levers with short ones.

Do you know whether these will straight on without having to replace the perch from an ex500?

I bought some Chinese shorty levers recently. They are beautifully machined and fabricated, but I had to make a spacer for the brake lever pivot and super glued a 1/8" thick piece of neoprene rubber on the part of the lever that activates the stop light switch. What do you want for $20.00 and free shipping - and a four week delivery time.

Just be aware. If you don't want to fart around like I did buy some U.S. mades for $60.00 - $70.00.

I do like the "shorty" levers though.

Thanks Bill.
Those chinese ones you bought, did you have to replace the perch or did you get the levers and they fit straight onto the original zzr250 perch? I've been reading in other threads that the only way is to change the perch to the EX500 ones.

And where can I find US or non chinese ones?

Cheers

Here's a good selection. It's Dennis Kirk. I think I've seen some on eBay also. I suggest you get adjustiable shorty levers. Sorry, I was WAY off on pricing. No. I didn't have to replace my perch and my O.E.M. levers will swap right back.

Nope, the clutch lever fit perfectly. I like the shortys because the clutch engagement is much closer to the grip than the O.E.M.s. The brake lever takes some getting used to as it makes your brakes feel slightly spongy, even with stainless steel braided brake lines, but the braking is just as effective. I wouldn't change back.

I'm pretty sure these are the ones I purchased.

Thanks heaps Bill. I think I'll purchase these ones http://www.ebay.com/itm/302176340883

Have you got any close up photos of your clutch and brake lever setup on your bike? Cheers

I just took these pictures. It's still dark outside. If you need better pictures let me know.

You legend, thanks mate. They look great.

If you were able to hook it up without replacing the perch then why are the other threads saying that you must replace it with an ex500 perch first? I guess everyone else did it the hard way.

Cheers

Burncity......those pictures are NOT from a ZZR250. They didn't get that model in the US.

I can't specifically answer your question about 500 perchs as I left my levers stock on my old 2001 ZZR250 but a regular pre-gen and a ZZR have substantial differences.

The Canuk is probably right. My bike is a U.S. 250R. If you have ex500 perches you might want to be looking at levers for that or reinstall the 250 Ninja perches. I do have an EX500 rear shock installed though (who cares Bill).

Anyway, my Chinese levers are beautifully CNC machined.

Cheers,

Bill

Been communicating with the seller and they have confirmed that it is compatible with my 07 ZZR250. I'll see how it goes.

Very nice Mate! They look a-lot like the ones I recently bought on eBay. Don't you love the engagement point of the clutch now?

Cheers,

Bill

Yeah they're great.

To all the other zzr250 owners, you don't need to replace the clutch perch. You can buy these shorty levers on ebay and they will fit straight on the stock perch.
