Front caliper bolt size

Just got new brake pads and I wanted to swap them out for the stock ones. But the bolts that hold on the calipers to the wheels were so far torqued out of spec, I broke two sockets trying to get them off! That was just by hand.

Tried some bolt loosener, still nothing. Then I took the pneumatic socket to it, only stripped it... I still have enough pad left to last me a few weeks luckily.

So I figure I'll just have to cut it off. So I was hoping someone would know where to get a replacement or the part number for the bolt? Thanks!

There are many, many easy options for OEM parts. http://www.bikebandit.com/, http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/ etc etc. Just select year/make/model and open the front brake microfiche.

Or, just call your local MC shop. They can do the exact same lookup and order that you'd do yourself on those websites.

For what its worth, kawasaki tends to use very crappy brake caliper bolts. I did the same thing as you on my old ZX6 and know of several other people with the same problem. Eventually I just ground off the heads but left a small chunk to grab with vice grips. Once the tension from the caliper was released, they were not even finger tight in the threads.

The long term solution was to buy a set of more expensive SS bolts from pro-bolt-usa. Here's a link to the ninja 250 bolts (if it works). More expensive, but I highly recommend them.
