Thanks to your prayers--Sailariel is back

Thank you all for your prayers because they worked. I still have a difficult time believing that a 97 year old woman can survive a stroke and only lose the use of her right hand and some speech clarity (she slurrs her words but is still very understandable) I have been in the medical field since I got out of college in 66, and have never seen something like that. The call we got was from the doctor at the nursing home. Appearantly when we were all there---first time the entire family was assembled in 20 years--she rallied. The doctor is still shaking her head. All I can say is that it had to be the prayers and good thoughts from this forum. Many thanks.

That's great news, Alex. I hope your mom is resting comfortably and improves daily. The mind and spirit are powerful tools, indeed.

Welcome back.

I think that a Lobsta Roll would have gotten a bit twangy in a saddle bag for a 10 hour ride. It was a good opportunity to test the 15T Sprocket. The bike did well.

I don't know about your mother but I've been up here in Labrador all winter and some twangy lobster is starting to look good about now. But I cn wait. We'll be out to New Brunswick in a few weeks.

And what nice news about your mom. Pass along our regards from north of the border.

Am still waiting for the other shoe to drop. Problem with strokes is that they tend to be repeaters. I guess I will have to bite the bullet and invest in a suit, dress shirt, and tie. Haven't worn that stuff since my retirement in 91. Dressing up for me has been a clean pair of jeans and a golf shirt. I was really hoping to order a Corbin seat. Two 520mile rides in one week could have been more comfortable. Now I need to find a garment bag that will fit on the Ninja. Hate to take my cage with all the construction going on---hard to lane split in a cage. Anyway, again, many thanks for your support and prayers. I do feel some speed bumps ahead.

Lil One, I am a realist and am cognizant that it is just a matter of time. To that end, I bought a suit. white shirt, and black tie. I have not worn a suit and tie since 1991. In effect, I am waiting for the other shoe to drop, I am packed and ready to do the 510mile run to central NY if needed. Am still trying to come up with a way to pack a suit and stuff on a Ninja. I really don't want to run a cage. Two wheels seem to help me headwise--especially going through the twisties in Vermont. Still want to do Americade in Canada--will see. Thanks to everyone on the forum for their good vibes and prayers. Thanks to you all, we will make it through this one.

Great news Alex - I've been away for too long with job and some other commitments and have been wondering how things have been going for you and your Mom. We'll keep the thoughts and prayers coming for you and your family.

Don, Thanks a million. You are also in my prayers--we cancer survors stick together. Mom is amazing. Surviving a stroke at 97 is almost unheard of---must mean that the Almighty has another mission for her. It has been an emotional rollercoaster. Will settle in for July and watch the TDF and of course ride the bike a lot. (Did the milage on my Ninja since June 08 and the milage on my bicycles since June 08: Bicycles 11065, Ninja 10047. I like two wheels. Cars are boring.

Glad to hear it Alex. Best wishes for your Mom. Had to laugh today as my 90 year old Grandmother was complaining that she is having trouble carrying 2 shopping bags in each hand.
