he started talking again but his voice is all messed up...I guess two weeks of having a tube down your throat will do that to you lol

He's really doing great, I firmly believe that any weaker person in his situation would not be with us today...thank you all once again for everything!

Its probably the ventilator like you said.

Hoarse, scratchy and quiet voice = Probably OK and will correct itself in a week or so.

Voice that occasionally makes strange noises or occasionally sounds like a foreign language = Very bad and indicates brain damage.

He's a champ. He sounds like a full recovery is in his future.

Any word on the drunk b!tch that did this to him? Is she still in jail (hopefully)?

He's out of the ICU, doing great, and he was even able to log into his facebook page and see all the love and support he's gotten.

While not the point of your post i am sure, I would like to clarify that the book should be thrown at drunk drivers regardless of the time of day at which they decide to drive under the influence.

still in jail, bond is still 100,000 dollars.

Next court date is September 2nd.

Hopefully she gets what she deserves, but more importantly, that our friend is doing so much better. He's home, and if you are following him on facebook you can see that he's already coming back to his old funny self. They wanted to put a whistle in the hole to his trache lol

Good news man. My lifelong friend passed away in a car accident about a week ago... he was in the ICU for about 6 days, and seeing this thread title hit me pretty hard... knowing someone else might going through that sort of thing. Jumped right to the last page of this thread, and I am truly happy to know he's doing better. I know the type of situation you were in, and you did great with all of the support.
