Thunderhill Trackday Monday May 10th $160

I will be doing a track day at Thunderhill Raceway in beautiful Willows California on Monday May 10th. As usual I plan on having at least one of my 250s out there to ride. Come out and ride with me. This day is a great deal at only $160. There will also be an AFM New Racer School held at this event. If you take the school on a 250 there is a good chance you will get me as your instructor. All my past students have done very well.

I will be out there watching. I should have an ignition for people to try out if they want.

I've got a stock exhaust and some pre-gen peg assemblies that I'm told will fit. What more do you need?

Ithaca aka Ryan is coming out too. I told him I would cut him a deal on rearsets if he came out. He will be there with bells on.

Maybe not bells but shiny parts at least. I'll put bells on for an even better deal And after putting on the lovely Sportisi VR Black exhaust, I don't need anything else to let people know I'm coming!

Craig - Is there a lot of people signed up for the day yet?

The day was a 50/50 crap shoot due to weather. The first session was all that was run prior to the rain coming down. I got half a lap in due to rear brake drag.

Craig and I headed for cover in the fied house after freezing outside talking. The rain stopped prior to the lunch break. Then the sunshine came out. It quickly dried the track out and we managed to get in the full 4 sessions after lunch. This made up for the rain delay.

It was fun, especially having other 250's to ride with. Here is some pictures. Ryan aka ithaca is pictured with me.

The weather yesterday was very bizarre. The first session of the morning was very cold and very windy. I was really getting blown around on the track. Then the rain came. With the wind it was raining sideways. It rained quite hard and half the people packed up and left. By lunch the rain had stopped and the sun came out. By the afternoon sessions the track was dry and warming up. The afternoon was sunny and the track conditions were great. The people who left are not going to like hearing how great the afternoon was.

After lunch photos:

I spent the down time hanging out the Matt and Ryan. Stole a cupcake from Ryan so the rain wasn't all bad.

Oh damn I forgot the cupcakes. That was the best part. Ryan I love your mom. Just keep those things in supply at trackdays.

It is! It is called The Cyclone. Very steep rise with a blind 90 degree left turn over the top, then down the other side while making a sweeping off camber right turn.

That sounds like it would cause its fair share of pucker factors.
Especially for newcomers to that track.

When I was following craig (ie he was babysitting me) around the track a guy went off on the right in front of us. He didn't go down luckily. I think it was a session before that guy hit a bird in turn 2 and wrecked.

Lucky for him. Looking at the picture, it seems the off camber portion is quite pronounced.

Thanks for the video, Matt. It looks like a very fun track to ride and from the video it seems like it has extremely generous run-off.

I finally got my pictures and a video loaded. I think this really makes it clear that this was a tale of two completely different track days...

that's my "get stuck in Nova Scotia" bike. I definitely don't want that near the track...
