Not your normal wider tire thread

Unlike most, I like hte size of my rear tire. What I am considering, though, is swapping to a 110 in the front. Now, the "normal" swap is to get the GT501, which means you have to raise the fender. But that's a 90 series tire. I'm looking at the same tire I have now (Diablo scoot) in the 110/70. By my math, it's actually 3MM shorter than the 100/80 on there now. The biggest advantage is that it's S rated instead of P. Do I plan on doing sustained riding at S rated speeds? No, but I do spend a lto of time at 80 or so where the traffic is flowing, and having that extra bit is worth the $4 or $5 difference IMO. If only they were available in Radial instead of bias-ply...

Anyone with a classic run these yet?

Bob... what's the width of the front rim? is it designed to handle a 110? I made the same comment about the 110/70 being shorter than a 100/80 in another thread and the owner of that pregen (ZZR) said they thought the tire wouldn't fit under the fender. Would the fender need to be raised to accommodate the larger tire?

Worth mentioning that tire sizes vary between brand y and brand z.

Yeah, the one thing I didn't look into was the rim size. Becuase if it pinches then that would make the tire taller, and also f things up royally. I gotta do more searching for the info.

I got the Diablo 110/70/16 front and due to the narrow rim size it does pinch a little so I'll never get to use that edge rubber unless I'm scraping my bars. If you go with 100 size I think I'll actually have a bigger contact patch then with the 110. Forget the scooter label, once broken in (100 miles), they just stick and gives really good feedback and not vague like others. I never feel the tires are holding me back and let me push the bike as far as I want to go. Do hold your judgement until its broken in as the first 50 miles makes you wonder if you make the right choice, after 100 miles you'll be laughing every corner.

Actually, looking at thigns on the Pirelli site, the 110 is approved for the 2.15 inch rim. I'm running the Diablo 100 on there now, and they def have a much rounder profile than some of the other tires I've ridden.

One thing I do know for sure if you mount the 110 Diablo is that you'll never get to use the edge rubber compared to the 130 rear rubber. Yes it will fit and I was thinking as you along the lines that its only $5 more... compare to 100's. If your goal is to get more contact area with 110's I don't think you're going to get it with this tire. I'm going to ride my 110's till it wears out unless you want to swap

The rim on my 86-87 are the same as 88-07 250's just 3 spoke pattern and 2.15 so its the same.
