Wichita Mountains Ride, SW Oklahoma in Early August Anyone?
Looking to start up a group ride in Southwest Oklahoma through the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. There are a few twisties buried within the refuge and Medicine Park and even the ride up Mount Scott is rather enjoyable. It is definitely no dragon's tail but I know a few good spots to work off any chicken strips a rider may have. The below is a rough route I am working up to highlight the most enjoyable roads through the refuge without double backing much. It is a very enjoyable ride with plenty of wildlife and varying terrain to see. Did I mention you can ride up a mountain?
Screenshot 2014-06-23 11.47.50.png One of my local rider friends in town here rides a Yamaha V-Max and I had a crazy idea to see if both of our groups wanted to ride together seeing as how our 250's are commonly looked down upon by larger bikes and V-Max's are typically looked down upon by the cruiser crowd and those that ride them are actually some pretty cool guys. So, thought is a combined group ride starting a late Saturday morning maybe around 10-11am, running through the refuge and making sure to hit the nice twisty spots and end back up in medicine park for lunch (estimate 1.5-2 hours of riding). Afterwards, those wanting to hit the twisty spots would continue to ride while those that may not be able to stay can work their ways back home. So what are your thoughts on this and would anyone be interested? Below is a link to TravelOK's snippet on the scenic byway: Wichita Mountains Scenic Byway

Thanks Alex. For this area it is a whole lot of fun! As a teaser, here is a video from one of the first rides on the road along the southern portion of the lake.
