I think it's fine, but I didn't have anything to compare it to as far as making power, so I'm not sure if it's any better or worse than any other brand of full system. Sounds great!

I finally got the little beast back out to the track again after being down for 9 months with a broken transmission. It stopped shifting into 5th gear at Road America last July, and we finally got around to tearing it apart over the winter to check things out. The dogs on the tranny gears are really weak in these things, and they're poorly cast with rounded edges, so not very conducive to good shifting under high load. I know a lot of peope have had problems with slipping out of gear and otherwise sloppy shifting on Ninja 300 track/race bikes. We got 3rd-6th gears back-cut and hardened, and now after running it on the track for the first time earlier this week, it's 1000% better! Shifts crisp and solid every time now, just like a "normal" sportbike! Ready for the TrackAddix GP races at Motorsports Park Hastings in 2 weeks!

Not sure if the tranny is the same between 250/300 or not.

How much did the transmission modifications cost you?

Where did you have this work done and what was the cost?
Thanks,

I sent the gears to RC's Performance in North Carolina, here's their web site:
http://www.rcsperformanceonline.com/

It was about $400-$450 if I remember correctly.

First race of the season is now in the books, this one was at Motorsports Park Hastings, and I had the worst start of my racing career! (Well, I take that back, the WORST start was stalling on the grid at a CCS MWGT race in 2007 and getting clocked from behind by another bike and then spending 4 months on crutches!) We run an Expert / Amateur split grid for the Lightweight GP races, I started at the back of the Expert grid and was passed by 2 Amateurs before Turn 1! 8-lap sprint race, I clawed my way back up to 4th by the end, but the leaders were GONE! Still have another 1-2 secs to pick up in order to win again, I'm switching to a 415 chain setup before next time, we'll see what that does. I did have it tuned for MR12 and ran that last time, but it made no difference in the real world, so I'm going to stick with regular 100-octane race fuel at $6/gal rather than $27/gal for MR12.

if your motor has stock compression, run 87 octane you will loose performance with 100 octane in a stock compression motor, the mr12 should have made 2hp more and accelerated quicker than the pump gas, overlay your two dyno runs and compare the acceleration

3HP on the dyno, no difference in actual top speed/acceleration or lap times on the track.

I have JE high-comp pistons, JE said 94 octane or higher to prevent detonation. The dyno showed 3HP difference, but that didn't translate into the "real world" performance on the track where it really matters. I might run it when I go to race at Road America in July, but other than that I'm just going to run my mix of 100-octane and 92 pump premium.

The gain may be more noticeable on a HP track like RA.

Just curious, what's the difference between the two Ohlins rear shocks?

Standard Ohlins shock vs. the TTX racing shock. TTX is the latest/greatest Ohlins technology with a separate channel inside the valving for rebound and compression damping. If you YouTube it there are a ton of videos out there explaining how the TTX technology works.
